Mitsubishi Eclipse owners - what do you think of the 2006 model?

Being a current 2004 Eclipse GT owner, I've been quite fond of the 3g body style since it first appeared in 2000. However, my worst fears have been confirmed. The shockingly round and ugly concept photos of the 4g Eclipse (2006 model) are indeed the final design.

Too ugly for words. It's as if they took a Mercury Cougar and crossed it with a Nissan 350Z. I'm curious to hear what other Mitsubishi Eclipse owners/fans think about the redesign?

One needn't be an Eclipse owner to realize that is one absofuckinglutely ugly car. Too bad really.

What the hell is going on with the auto industry these days? The designs are simply awful as of late!

The eclipse of today (3g and on) isnt 1/2 the car the 1st gen and 2nd gen versions are. For the true eclipse of yesteryear, look no further than the Lancer.

The lancer is the reason the eclipse was watered down to a commuter car in the 3g version.

That's a hell of a lot better than those suburu wrx things. The Suburu's
look like someone took a bat to the outside and then threw on a few
aftermarket parts to try and make the junker look "riced."

Either way, I think Eclipses are pieces of shit.

I don't know about the quality of the Eclipse, but that body style is pretty nice, IMO. Very futuristic-looking, with nice smooth, rounded curves. The front could benefit from being a little bit longer, but I like the looks of the back.

For the record, 3G Eclipse is one of the sexiest cars designed.

But...

I don't think even hot 20-something women (the most common owners for 3G Eclipses) will want that ugly POS.

I thought the curves so common with mid-90 year cars were a bit much. Taurus was all screwed up, the Buicks didn't know what end was the front...

Yep folks... now the auto industry sees it fitting that they have so many curves to their cars, its rediculous. They are using their favorite custom CAD programs to create some seriously bad looking cars that look more like sex toys.

I'm glad that not all car manufacturers have followed suit. I've always appreciated Honda's designs... conservative... in a sporty way. Toyota's cars have been very conservatively designed for the most part. I can't complain about Nissan's common models either.

Even offerings from Germany still look quite decent.

Bah, seriously - give me a Suburban and be done with it.
