I'm not crazy about people amassing nothing but conversions either, but what's the big deal as long as he's clear about what he's selling?

I really dont have a problem with conversions being sold, but eventually one fucker or another will pass a conversion off as the real thing. Thats where it all begins. If it starts out as a conversion and is sold as a converstion for the rest of its days then its fine. Somehow some fuckers think they can pull a fast one and sell it as an original.

Yeah, I guess I can see that. In the end though, it's the person that sells it as original who is really to blame there.

Well we can keep honest people honest by not giving them the opportunity to sell them. There is no way to track who has these conversions after they have changed hands. The manuals, labels and inserts are made 1:1 so they look real. I have seen 7 copies of fake Metal Slug 1's first hand. They look and feel real, but since I have seen 12 copies of MS1's in total I could identify the fakes. Now if a noob was looking at it he wouldnt be able to tell. Remember Division had a fake MS1? He had no idea. No one did until Jeff Kurtz opened it up. Now back to the point...If everything about the cart screamed CONVERSION then there is no problem. These carts scream ORIGINAL which is where the problems are.

Again I have no problems with conversions if they are properly labeled, but all of them are labeled to be sold as originals. You can even tell by this guys auctions that they can almost be passed off as originals.

What, you babies bitching and moaning about your distain for conversions. well I have to say that I totally agree with you on that one.

Honestly, stop getting your panties in a bunch. The only thing wrong with a few of those carts is that the seller is a bit inconsistant with the artwork and cases that he makes/uses. If you are going to DESTROY neo geo games to make new ones do it right the forst time and everytime after and stick to the formula. Otherwise don't bother.

That sucks. I thought it was another member here who's Ebay profile went by the name CGgame or something like that.

If I actually gave a shit about the Neo Geo hardware, I'd buy a few of these.

yeah, I saw those earlier, the metal slugs are irresponsible as stated previously.

I dont think it does him any favours showing off with pics of how many he has, from a buyers perspective, I would take the view that as he has a few, they will be around for a while, and I'd buy one at a later date and see if anyone else would be prepared to pay the prices he's asking, but hey, thats just how I would look at it.

No, they are not necessarily.
"Let the buyer beware"
You want to buy a GAME buy MVS
You want to buy a COLLECTIBLE buy a homecart.
If you go buying a collectible to take all the precautions NECESARY when doing so and all should end up fine.

This is true up to a certain extent. Noobs dont even know conversions exist until they find out first hand or someone explains it to them in depth. There is a chance they will pass these off as originals out of ignorance. Noobs dont know what necessary precautions are until they get scammed.

Aint these classed as bootlegs? ...didnt think they were allowed on Ebay anyway.

Ebay doesnt seem to care if boots are on. They have let roms, conversions and cdr's sell for years. They say they do something about it, but 99% of the time they let it go. They only can legit auctions because the people that work at Ebay are fucktards.

I meant that new buyers might be mis-lead in future auctions/sales by someone selling them off as an original. By making them exactly like the original + manuals, it makes it even harder for someone to spot the conversion.

I think Ebay do remove Bootlegs, Ive seen bootleg records removed and emulation CD's etc.

I think if the community banded together and mass reported these people Ebay would have to do something.

Ive certainly reported bootlegged SNP PLAYMORE titles to Ebay before and they have been removed.

I don't think eBay acting against bootleg sellers will stop them.
On the contrary, it will probably just make them more elusive.... Better they are obvious for people to see and avoid.

LOL. Don't panic. If they're Starkey's there's no way he could pass them off as originals.

AHHHH, but you see, there is the mistake that you all make.
People like that DESERVE to get ripped off.
Your telling me that you feel pitty for jackass who of all game systems gets into, by far the most expensive that there has ever been made starts purchasing extremily costly collectible games WITHOUT doing ANY type of research at all.
When people start collecting a certain genre (art, etc) they educate themselves and do research first.
A person getting into the neo right off the bat should know that games like metal slug and others go for THOUSANDS of dollars and that conversions are made and are available so they need to do thier homework and be cautious when buying.
Otherwise: a fool and his money are easily parted.

I do however share some of you outlook on it but I will share that later as I need to go now.

I agree to a certain extent. With expensive items of any type that are collectable, there will always be copies and you should always do your research.

That said, some scammers are VERY good, so I would never say someone deserves getting ripped off.
