That was cool, but there is no way that can be the complete intro. Otherwise Namco is getting lazy. Previous Tekken games kind of introduced the new characters as well as some of the old favourites in a random order.

That fight scene between the Mishima's and the Jack's is pretty much what Tekken 5 is about though. I've seen pictures of Heihachi on fire rising from the Honmaru but reports say that the last spot (no. 30) on the character select screen will be reserved for random select and not Heihachi.

Damn you Namco, you could have left out Mokujin.

I thought that was Jinpachi who rose from the flames. He was locked up for 50 yrs and used the explosion to free himself. The intro will probably have parts added on, since they haven't shown Jinpachi freeing himself from the chains or Asuka and Feng Wei doing their stuff. Nice intro though.

Let me just say that I don't think there is ANY WAY to do a full on conversion of this game to PS2. I don't even know if the cube or Xbawks can handle this.
I just checked this game out at CTF the first of this year (they had it in VERY EXPENSIVE dedicated machines aparently running the game in high def with flat screen monitors and PS2 controller ports) and the backrounds/foregrounds were fucking AMAZING. The character models were great as well and the gameplay is....well....same old teken, but those BG's, jesus!

Namco is pulling what the MK series recently did....

They kill off a Character in the Intro... Fails to Shock me (and i'm sure everyone else).. been there done that already by Midway.

Overall i'd give the intro 3 out of 5.

Ive never been into the Tekken games much, because they seemed to lack the depth of some other fighters, but I certainly would like to see the game running in Hi-Def.

Just took at a look at the opening vid, nothing to great.

As far as the game itself: I would rate it as great but not excellent or outstanding.

It is same old teken. nothing has changed or evolved, and the mutated version of heihachi (last boss) looks prety week. He actually looks to be a modification of the Ogre character model from teken 3 and his polly count seems lower than the other characters in the game as well.

Yeah, looking back at the picture, it definitely looks like Jinpachi and not Heihachi. Here's a very old link.

It's a pity, I heard reports say Jinpachi will not be a selectable character. He's not a unique character anyway. He just has the combined moves of every character in the game.

LOL! You must play 2-D fighters more than 3-D to say Tekken lacks depth. Tekken isn't a game you can just pick up in one night. I takes time...... and alot of money. I still stand by Virtua Fighter being the most in-depth fighter of all time. That game takes years to master.

Well, Namco's CGI movies definitely have style - I'll give them that. I just hope half as much effort went into actually improving the gameplay, which has been sort of stagnant since ... well, since tekken 1 really.

Yup you are right, the arcade version runs on a boosted PS2 (supposedly in RAM, GS cache and cpus frequency) so i think they will have to scale down some backgrounds details on ps2.

Anyway this may be one of the 2 intros. Namco likes to do 2 introductions "recently" in tekken :) the arcade one and an original console one

I liked it btw. I wich so much to find again the endings of Tekken 3 (Gon! Gon ! Gon !) , i found Tekken tag and tekken 4 character endings quite weak compared to it (i am not talking about the big CGs story endings)

a remake of Tekken 1 will be included in the game (the-Magicbox)

Tekken 2's intro was way ahead of its time. same goes for its graphics and animations as well (I was such a graphics' whore)

Gamespot and ign also confirmed that tekken 1 will be included with T5. Wether its a remake or not nobodys certain.

I saw that intro a month ago on G4 Cinematech so its not new. Im guessing that there will be a new one for the US release.

Trust me, the series is NOT turning into Mortal Kombat. They just like to do something new instead of the same thing over and over again. The Kazuya/Heihachi feud happened for 3 games now(T1,T2,T4). Namco figures it's time to let that go and move on. I'm personally glad that Heihachi was finally killed off, I never liked him anyway. I'm probably the only one who doesn't like him, too.
