2nd Player Coin Credit start only

Hey Everyone, I'm a newbie here. I've just rebuilt most of my Jamma / Neo Geo cab. But I've run into one problem. I got the coin slots to work but I want to add only credits to the second player side and only the second player side to play as a single player instead of having both players start when I push the second player side. For example, In Samurai Showdown 2, when I add one coin, only the first player can play. When I add another coin and push the 2nd player side, both players play instead of only the 2nd player starting alone? I thank everyone in advance for any help they can help me with.

One more thing

Also, if anyone knows how I can play only the second player side and not the first player side on free play, that would be rocking!

More info

Hi, I have a MV-1C , 1 slot Neo Geo MVS / Jamma Motherboard. It only shows credits for one side, but no credits for both sides like other Neo Geo Machines that I saw. I have checked both coin slots 1 and 2 and they both work except that still only credits 1 side and if you insert the 2nd coin and push player 2 start button, then it activates both player 1 and player 2 instead of just player 2. Any ideas?

I think I can play a single-player game from the 2P side... Acces the configuration screen by putting hard dip switch 1 on and see how it is configured.

You'd need USA region BIOS or Unibios and/or Dip Switch2 (VS-Mode)

This is correct, note however that not all games support VS-Mode but most of the ones you would want it for do (fighters). Also remember not all BIOS's have the VS-Mode option, only the Universe Bios and newer Japan/Asia Bios's do.

Simply let a game run through attract mode, if you see a winners dont use drugs scren then you have a USA bios. To see if you have the VS mode option simply turn on hard dip 2 and then try starting from player 2 side in one of the newer fighting games.

Actually Raz I have yet to find a game that does not support 1 player game on 2 player side, even old stuff like nam 75 works...

Bios version

I don't think mine has the winners don't do drugs thingy. But all the instructions is in English. But there is an option that says 1coin vs. Is that the option? Also, flipping the 2nd dip switch does nothing for me. Any other ideas?

You have a euro bios, this does not support vs mode...
1 coin vs means insert 1 coin and play a 1p vs 2p game with 1 credit....
you need to get a usa bios or buy a bios from Razoola on this forum...

Yes that is correct....
Or you can set it on free play and just press 2p start and you will play a 1 player game on the 2player side.....

Free play 2nd player

I've tried putting free play on, but pushing 2nd player starts a 1player and 2nd player game for me.

@yangjuniori

You picture shows the VS-mode option that we are talking about here (2nd HardDIP down). This basically allows a person to start a single player game from player 2 side only (if the game being played supports it). The option is only available on either the Universe Bios or the latest Japanese bios which I expect is found on some MV-1C units only.

@Energyblade
You will still need either a USA Bios, Universe Bios or the Japanese bios with VS-mode support (see yangjuniori pic of the hard dip screen) for a player 2 start only. There is no other way.

Aparently there was another Bios that allowed player 2 start only, this bios is soposed to display one coin counter at the bottom of the screen in the center. I have yet to see this Bios and at this point take it to be a rumor only and not factual (esp as I cant find any code in games what would display the coin counter in the center of the screen).
