Ive only just got another AES console again today after owning one a long time ago.

Is it norm for cartridges to be inserted incorrectly and the machine to display garbled graphics or no sound, I couldnt remember. :make_fac:

I just find that it takes me a few attempts when inserting cartridges to get it right, are there any tips to getting it right everytime. :help:

Cheers.

Thats not normal. It sounds like you may need to clean the game your using, I suggest using precision electronics cleaner, spray some onto a Q-tip and then swipe the contacts of the cart with the Q-tip a few times till its no longer dirty.

Some people use alcohol..but I prefer precision electronics cleaner from Radio Shack, its made for PCBs, so I would assume very safe to use.

You could always do the classic "Nintendo blow on the cart and inside the machine trick." I really shouldn't do that to my AES, but I do, and it works fine.

Cheers for the info people, thats a really cool site.

Another question.

Is it normal for some AES carts to have differing board colours? I bought Samurai Showdown 3 recently, and it all looks legit, but I noticed the boards are differing colours.

Home carts often have differing board colors. A good rule of thumb is to remember that if a home cart isn't worth much (and I mean unless it's around $500+), there's no way that conversions of it will exist. SS3 would make no sense to convert - it would cost more to create a conversion than the home cart is worth.

This often happens when you use "new and never been played" carts. After a couple of insertions they clear up.
