It turned out better than I thought it would. Great job, Dodge. All I need is a 6-speed on the floor and some nitrous in the tank, and I'm ready to eat rice for lunch. :buttrock:

Bleh.
This reminds me exactly of why I'm not a big fan of older/classic cars (hate the boxy styling).

I tend to agree that the new Mustang GT is hella sweet. What's the new Charger got under the hood?

Overall I'd have to say.... it looks like sun dried dog shit in my front yard.

I was hoping more for the original's shape over something "new", kinda like the retro look they tried to give the Mustang.

I actually think the Magnum looks a lot better.

Ugly, unispired and boring IMO it looks like a shiny bar of soap with an especially ugly front end.

Nothing that exceptional I think..

I do like the aggressive, and a bit Viperish, front.

The design of the rear end is kind of dull.

Overall looks are a little too much like 300C or something.

Not bad, but if you're going to make a new Charger at least make it look something like the originals:

I like the idea of a modern Charger, but that new one just doesn't look enough like the old one to really convey that sense of nostalgia like the Mustang does. It looks like one more new-school Dodge sedan. Meh.

would look better in black paint, i really don't like the front end, or that it's a sedan, i'm sure it's a beast in a straight line though......

4 doors? I don't think younger people will go crazy for this like the Mustang, which itself may fade due to the retro styling. But the Charger looks like the rest, very bland. They need to compete with the Z since the sticker prices are probably close. Remember when the Z first came out, OOOHHH...

The only reason why it isn't a coupe is that Dodge thinks it won't sell well: see example 1, the 2004 Pontiac GTO. And I like the sedan part: I prefer four doors anyway, I haul a lot of people in my beat-up Civic sedan. It doesn't need to compete with the 350Z... the SRT-4 is the car in the Dodge lineup aimed for t3h ricer crowd.

GTO didn't sell well because the styling was butt ugly, and it wasn't really that fast (14 sec car). I see this car fiting the same pattern nicely. That Magnum chassis, which this car uses, weighs a fucking lot. SO I don't see this breaking any speed records. And is nice as the srt4 is (it's actually #1 on my list of cars to buy right now) it's not aimed at the muscle car market, which this should have been. Overall a disappointment.

Matt

PS: 350z is a piece of overstyled garbage.

I'm going to disagree on the GTO sales. I believe they are lagging because of the price. 35k is a base price. The idea of the GTO was never to be a rich mans sports car, it was supposed to be affordable for a kid but if and older guy wanted it he could add plenty of nice options.

You can sell an old guy a young guy's car but you can't sell a young guy an old guys car.

As for the styling, really unlike the Mustang (long front, short rear deck) the GTO never had any specific design traits, it was more of an idea, big motor, cheap car.

As for the Charger, yeah its butt ugly with that trademark 4 square Dodge grill.

I just don't like the idea of Dodge turning a muscle car into a family sedan. It just doesn't seem right. I think they should give the Charger another name.
But, about the GTO, probably the reason it didn't sell, is because of the high price (about 35,000) and also, the GTO didn't stand out. The GTO just looked like a souped up, Grand Prix Coupe. In able for a sports or sporty car to sell well, is that it has to stand out or distinguish from other cars on the road. (Example: Chevy Corvette)

The SRT-4 is a piece of shit attempt to compete with cars in the "ricer crowd" and the new Charger looks ugly as hell. Not every Japanese car is rice and has a 18 year old asian kid driving it with a huge carbon fiber wing and a muffler. My rice can outhandle most American cars that you throw at it and will last twice as long. The only thing you will be eating for lunch in that new charger is broken parts and cheap pieces of plastic after 70k miles. Meanwhile I will be hitting the twisties and driving up through snowy mountains to go snowboarding.

Wasn't that fast?

What a dipshit.

Have you ever bothered to take a look AT THE TIRES ON THE FUCKING CAR STOCK?

NO TRACTION WITH THOSE TIRES!!!!

God some people are so stupid when it comes to cars.

It's a low 13 second car once you swap off the shitty tires on the car. Even with the shitty tires it's not a 14 second car. But whatever, believe whatever you want to.

Styling wasn't really butt ugly, that could be applied to a lot of other cars.

Some things about the styling should have been left alone and it would have been fine. The Holden Monaro is one of the sharpest looking cars out there and GM should have brought the GTO in the exact form of the Monaro.
