Guys, I'm stumped I have to hand in a essay question and a brief plan of my essay plus a few sources tomorrow or I'm down a shitter.

Basically, in a month and a half's time I need to produce a extended essay somewhere in the region of 2000 - 2500 words under timed conditions about Karl Marx or Marxism (historcal debate between it and Christianity also). I've done my reading but I'm really stuck for a final question.

I was thinking something along the lines of does Marxism bring social justice to the God fairing prolotariate? Or maybe something about Liberation through revelation.

Like I said I only need the essay question and a breif plan for tomorrow and I can work out the rest for the final essay myself.

Thank you

In america we have this thing called bullshitting.

It's a delay tactic.

Just pull something out of your ass and change it later if you need be.

just notify your professor.

I'm no expert on the guy, but that sounds like a good question to present- that is, if you can find enough evidence in support of it. If I remember correctly, he wasn't the most religious guy by any stretch of the imagination, and had an aversion to the very notion of work (the guy lived most of his life with F. Engles, I think). From what I could try to throw together, I'd sugguest something like:

"Was the Marxist doctrine compatible with contemporary Christian values of Marx's day?" or maybe a word revision to your initial question, like "Does the Marxist Narrative of Social Justice share a commonality with Christian dogma/ideology?"

Just some sugguestions. By the way- what kind of class are you taking?

Reading the following basic texts will give you a good foundation in the Marxian approach to Christianity:

The introduction to Marx's _Contribution to a Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right_:

The third manuscript of the 1844 _Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts_:

The introduction to the English edition of Engels' _Socialism: Utopian and Scientific_:

In my 4 years of history study, I learned that whenever you have a Writing assignment it's best to follow these guidelines.

1. Find out who is going to be correcting your Test/Paper (In my case, usualy a TA)
2. Find out what thier personal research/writing interests are. (Go to the libary, check the databases and see what articles they have published!)
3. Bend your topic in a similar direction. Don't be to obvious tho. And stay on topic

I once had to write a final essay stating that the American Revolution was a revolution in a marxist tradition. I knew my TA was a clasist so I bent it to her liking (John adams was actualy a socialist!).

I pulled an A out of my ass. Pretty good because I had a D- on the midterm and the only way to drop it was to get an A on the Final.
