Just rented this movie and I gotta' say, the set designs, ships, the Trojan horse and a few other things fuckin' rocked... other than that I felt the movie was Pure Shit. Eric Bana was like the only dude who actually tried to act in that film, everyone else just seemed to sleep walk. ***And Brad Pitt, oh come on... "You men are LIONS!"

Nigga' Please!

I'm sure some liked it, but I barely made it till the end. I just think something is missing from these epics being made today. In fact the last good epic made IMO was Bravehart, with maybe bits of Gladiator. This, Bruckheimer's KING AURTHER and Alexander just tried a little too hard. And the skeezer plaing Helen of Troy {Diane Kruger} is marginally HOT, but nothing I'd have sent a thousand ships full of men to fight over. This movie was ass, but I'm interested in hearing the opinions of those who might have liked it.

THAT was a good movie. Kinda like a good version of Dances with Wolves.

Watched it a couple nights ago, pretty dissapointing overall.

Eric Bana was excellent though.

Troy sucks. The only cool part in the movie is when Achiles (Pitt) fights that big dude at the begining and jumps up and stabs him through the neck and into his chest. That scene is about 5 minutes into the movie, it's all down hill from there.

Eric Bana is a horrible actor and is probably even worse in this move than he was in Hulk.

Only two good scenes in the movie:

- Pitt vs Giant warrior
- Pitt vs Eric Bana

:mr_t:

Other than that, I'd prefer watching "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle"

That was a real piece of crap as well.

C'mon, you think the child-son of a dead-on-the-field samurai would gladly accrpt his father's killer as a new family and referring image? In those days? In Japan?I n a bushido world? Common knowledge is: he would have lived all his life training himself just to get a chance in any future to take revenge for his father's honour.

But wait:

"hey, you're TOM CRUISE! Hooray, that' cool, please go fuck my mother and become my new father!"

Not to talk about the old-fashined and traditional samurai leader talking quite a good english... ahahaha!

That movie was a joke and a shame.

They just took up the 'Dances with Wolves' concept of 'let's pick up some other culture we American used to rape and reverse the prospective showing a good story of good farm-men, that would result in a very clever and inttelctual epic."

Shame.

And Troy, that's more of a shame. Taking serious epics and making them into some kind of wrestling show, are you American guyz crazy of what? I was kinda waiting to hear Achille shouting his 'deadly move name' while execuiting it... not to talk about the total twist of the story and characters' personality as well...

Get serious. Those stories are older about 2000 years of history and tradition more than the WHOLE AMERICA (exept for its natives, that is).

Some people should just show a bit of respect sometimes.

As Kyo says:

"Rekishi ga chigaun da yo!"

I actually liked the film, I thought i was going to hate it so i didnt get my hopes up too much and was suprised. I am not a fan of Brad Pitt at all but he was alright in this apart from The "take it, its yours" I hate the way he said that.

Ditto.

Not only that, Hector was the only character that worked out in a realist way in the whole scenario. At first I though they totally wiped out the Cassandra character, that I realized they fused her into Hecotr's mind. Come on, that poor guy keep saying logical things that would have avoided the disaster through the whole fuckin' movie, and no one listen to him. In the end he gets his ass raped for the sake of the very same moron never listening to him.

Pitt you say? There's no way he should evel fit in the role, or in any role in such a movie. You know, he dosn't have this very Greek face. And no, that fack his mother was a half-goddess doen't matter anyway, for old Greeks of course figured out thier God just as they Greeks were, thus Greek gods should also look like Greeks.

I forgot about that one. Thing is I never much thought of "Last Samurai" as an epic even though it's pretty damn historically accurate, and has a long run time. I say this primarily for the reasons Shito gave above, along with the fact that while the Samurai Rebellions indeed did occur after the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate within the Meiji Restoration period leading up till Japan's ultra-nationalists movements including other rightest organizations and even Yakuza helping ignite world war 2 later on... I just think it was a bit ridiculous to have to have a white dude be the protagonist. It could have very well been a Hollywood production told entirely through the eyes of the Japanese with everyone doing their thing. That said I do own the movie and love it, but I do have my problems with it.

Eric Bana's character was very charismatic... Brad Pitt wasn't bad at all... His "accent" didn't work though...Don't forget Orlando Bloom--It took talent to pull off wimpy Paris...

Best scenes:
Paris vs. Agamemnon's bro
Achilles vs. Hector

I thought Troy was okay. I told Bigpsyho that women are trouble and Troy proves that. He replied "You can watch any movie to see that women are trouble"
