I saw an ad for DVD set last nite during adult swim I think. I then IMDEed it and find out its done by Shinchiro Wantabe (Bebop). It look totally badass and wonder if the hype lives up to its name.

Samurai Champloo is very good, visually, but the story is rather weak, imo.

Definitely worth a peek,though.

I didn't like it that much, it was too much like Bebop, but with sordsmen. And its got this funky kinda rap in it, which is horrible. It's worth checking out if you're a big fan of Bebob.

Big fan of Champloo.

Problem though: I've only seen up to episode 8. My friend who has been getting them has up to episode 14, but now can not find where to get the rest ANYWHERE.

If someone had a lead on where to look I'd be especially greatfull.

17 was the last episode to air. It's a 26 episode series, but the entire series wasn't picked up by a single station.

If you really need those three episodes, I could possibly send you them through AIM.

I thought that it was picked up by another station but they were just playing through the first 17 episodes again. Either way, I'm sure that the rest of the series will be released in some form or another.

I absolutely hated Cowboy Bebop and wasn't excited when I downloaded the first episode. However it was a welcomes surprised. The coolest part about it is the urban feel and that awesome rap at the beginning. I mean samurai swords cut through flesh and bone. Great stuff. Oh and Mugen and Jin are some good fighters too.

You can get the first 4 eps on DVD starting tomorrow (streets tomorrow, probably out already though).

There are a few versions.

You have just the disc 1 only version (you can find it for ~$22 or so).

Then you have the disc 1 plus empty box to hold the series. As a bonus item in this limited edition box you get a very interesting bandana. It's pretty fucking big, yellow and has some of the characters on it. You can find this for ~$28 online. This is the version I bought and it showed up today. Box is OK in terms of artwork, haven't watched it yet.

The last version is the Best Buy exclusive that has the first DVD plus the OST. I believe MSRP on this one is $25. You can also buy the OST separately for MSRP $14.99. This one does NOT come with the empty series box, however.

Vol 2 streets 3-29-2005 and you can find it for ~$22 as well online.

It's going to be a 7 DVD series, Geneon has all 26 episodes, whether they all air in JPN or not.

Interesting to note is Geneon appears to be using the R2 DVD cover art. Also interesting to note is that there are 7 R2 volumes out or, as with discs 6 & 7, coming soon. That means you can only get 14 eps on R2 DVD so far, which surprises me because you'd think given the hiatus between eps they'd just as soon release them all on DVD. Of course, that would mean less TV viewers as well...

Watched the first 2 eps. So far, damn good stuff. After I finish my post, I'm watching the last 2 eps on the disc. ;)

For those of you buying the DVDs, if you have a surround sound system that is DTS capable, the Japanese audio can be put in DTS 5.1. The sound is crystal clear and sweet as hell. DEFINITELY a bonus.

Geneon did a good job on the authoring (as always). Typical SpeeDVD encode and intersting menus by Night Jar. High quality release all around.

Yea, I just picked it up a few days ago and I'm really loving it. The action and animation in the fights is very wll done. The story seem decently typical, but I'm glad they brought in Steve Blum as one of the main guys. Although is it just me, or does the guy that Steve Blum is doing remind you of Spike's long lost relative? He seems like his distant granpda from how he looks, acts, and talks.

Oh well, amazing series anyway and I can't wait for teh rest of the series to come out stateside.

I had to look up Steve Blum before I realized you were talking about an English voice actor.

I wouldn't know about how he sounds, I watch in Japanese. The JApanese DTS track is fucking awesome.
