After college I plan to move to Australia for four to five years or life depending on what type of job I lcan and there. I am going to graduate with a degree in Buisness Marketing/International Trade. I wanted to know; how hard is it for American people to find a nice paying job over there? Since English is obviously my native language I don't think it would be too hard. What city is better to live in; Melbourne or Sydney? I am a city guy but I still like to go hiking/swimming etc. every once in a while. Is the cost of living there higher than America? Australia looks to be a beautiful place and a nice play to live so I am pretty interested in moving there. Any other things you guys know of about Australia that I should know please inform me. Thanks on advance.

how about first work with multinational companies and transfer to Australia? :mr_t:

seriously a lot of companies in my field (logistics) are having ban on hiring new people... and it really depends who you know and when at the right place... another thing is you will find many people speak 2nd and sometime 3rd languages... so obviously that can be advantages... and resume is real important... many of Aussie companies value the experience highly as well as education so just graduating don't expect any comfy job any time soon...

finally living expense could be little bit cheaper in Melbourne...

of coz YMMV...

I still have a bit of research to do but I hear it is not as hard to gain the right to live in Australia as an American compared to living in other countries such as Japan; correct me if I am wrong.

i dont know the specifics but you need some sort of special skill to be eligible for a visa, some skill/experience that is uncommon or is needed in australia. in japan on the other hand teaching english only requires a degree, of any discipline and no previous experience hence the fact it's easier (though you have no option except to teach english).

good luck though, great place to live of course :)

you will need to check with AU embassy or something...
Fed gov is making freaking hard for people to stay in AU permanently...

when we got married my wife was granted temporary visa till her spouse visa was granted - that took 3 months - and after two years 2nd stage of spouse visa since the 1st stage was conditional temporary took another 10 months to get it approved... and I'm AU citizen and we got married here in Sydney... I've heard for people married overseas it's more complicated and take longer...

if you are coming to AU to stay basically the company that hires you will have to sponsor you...will have to have compelling reason for the company to do that...

I would reccomend NOT going to Australia. Land down under? More like an underworld of Human degeneracy.

A foul benighted 'continent' full of the rabbit-fearing descendants of the lowest sort of cast-off English criminal scum

P.S.- Koalas can give you AIDS

;)

what a sick human being would want to try that?
Koala does have very sharp claw that can give you nasty scar if you are dumb enough to try... and we certainly don't need any more dumb ass... :mr_t: at leaset he/she didn't get confused with sheep...

Are you for real? Man, it just seems like American men are always extra popular in foreign countries.

I enjoy long walks on the beach and blooming tulips. You should swing by with the Sinister Warlock and we'll triple fuck. If it leads to the birth of a baby you can just feed it to the dingos.
