I recorded airplane over xmas on channel 5 even though i seen it tons of times before as its one of the funniest movies ever made.

Anyways i watched it today and i couldnt belive it, when Elaine tries to blow up the automatic pilot which is in his grion area, it looks like shes giving him a blow job and you see him smiling and bobbing his head, yet when i watched it, all they did was show her blow the tube and the scene cut.. how dumb is that. when thats one of the funniest parts in the movie and its not as if it was on in the day time.

UK tv can be a pain like that, Terminator 2 on ITV2 recently cut the scene where arnie's brain/chip is taken out and also the bit when John's foster dad get's knifed through the head :shame:

I dont' care about censorship anymore. Its a losing battle.

Just buy the DVD.

PS: Another fantastic movie that often airs, and is beaten to hell by the censors: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Its 100% funnier with all the profanity. But I bougth the DVD couple years ago, and i'm happier for it.

Wow I didn't know they censored shit in the UK...

Worst Movie was UHF on Comedy Central (I think)

The 4 best parts were removed:

1. Teaching Poodles how to fly.
2. Shop teacher cuts his thumb off.
3. Drinking from the Firehose
4. Look Up, Look Down, now Look at mr frying pan

UK TV censors violence like we censor nudity and swearing.

Different cultures, different things get censored generally speaking.

But overall it sucks.

Remember that thread where Toddddy freaked out about gun pics being shown for example they tend to blur out things like guns and knives on european television.

Our country is complete whack when we censor movies, but have mainstream airing of shows containing subject matter of beastiality, swingers & can show as much tits & cock as they like.

The scene when Sarah and John remove the CPU chip from the Terminator was not an original scene in Judgement Day. It was removed before theatrical release. It showed up in the VHS version that had the bonus scenes, which in turned carried over to the second DVD release.

So I can't imagine it being shown on a TV viewing of the movie.

MARKETING!

I soooo agree and specially with anime these days. You get to see a severely edited show on TV, but are given hope knowing you can pay to get it how it should have been in the first place.

That certainly depends on where in Europe you are. We have tits, ass and loads of violence on Danish TV. All uncensored. Music programs show the titty versions of all the "hip hop" videos.

Yes, the theatrical version of T2 lacked that scenes, but the last time I've seen it in TV here in Spain it was the "extended version" featuring all the extra scenes, including the ones you mention and others, like Sarah's dream featuring John's father (Michael Biehn).

Thankfully, here in Spain it is extremely rare (actually I can't remember it happening) to censor anything, specially movies. Actually, many US movies arrive here featuring the material that was not shown in the US release.

An yes, we are more concerned about violence in TV than sex.

Of Course.

Europe is a vast place, but it it does certainly go on in some areas more than others.

So you could have a nude scene in Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles?

Wierd

I know that Germany can be quite Facist in it's attempt to censor or remove anything Nazy Related.

Germany used to ban games for violence (Australia still does) and either make them cover up violent covers for games or makes them get stored behind the counter like people used to do with porno vids in a convenience store.

Belgian television hasn't got any censorchip...
Sometimes, there's full frontal nudity on television in the middle of the afternoon. :smirk:

Not like that happens a lot, but if it does happen it will not be censored. And no fucking way there will be such a stupid crap going on like with that Janet Jackson Super Bowl thingie. Silly Americans...

karate kid on channel 5 was cut as well

almost most of the hit contacts were gone and when daniel did the crane when he connected that was gone

what made it more obvious was the music jumping around - so they didnt even try to hide the cut

The European PAL version of Soul Blade had the intro edited, covering with a pajamas the "nude" girl in the fountain. Also one ending in Tekken 3 (I think Anna's) had the "top-less" scene cut. If I remember well it was because of Germany.

I think the "shit" episode of Southpark and that VH1 movie about the music censorship hearings made strides for atleast swearing on cable.

Comedy Central can air uncensored things at midnight on Saturdays (but with commercials).

TBS has Mr.Show reruns on it (which was weird seeing how they put commericals in it). However, they censor everything but "shit" ("poon tang" was edited out).

Wow, that's pretty cool the extended version got shown on TV.

They need to stop censoring movies in this country.

Considering half the things shown on CNN, some movie violence wouldn't be much worse than that.
