Explorations into Neo Geo games hidden in the corner like an ugly ginger child.

This is my favourite NeoGeo game ever, at least on the NGCD (I believe the cart controls differ for gears??), but around these parts its more likely to appear on "whats the crappest neogeo game" lists.

You buggers, love it, the music is great.

Has anyone tried this game system linked?

Between me and Nexwave, we are building a sizeable local Neo scene. As time goes by the possibility of actually pulling off the logistics to try it, is increasing.
Anyone tried it with this game or Riding Hero?

Does it improve either game?

I will be trying it soon..

I'm just looking for a cheap MVS or AES copy to do so..

I've already linked League Bowling MVS to League Bowling MVS.

And:
Riding Hero AES to Riding Hero MVS..

Glossary

Link-Up Feature

Several of the early Neo Geo AES releases featured a socket on top of the home cartridge that allowed two home systems with the same cartridge to be linked together for up to 4-player action. For a long time there was a belief that no such cables were made, however a number were created in included beneath the trays of at least some link-up games (Riding Hero is the confirmed game, see picture). The three games were League Bowling, Riding Hero, and Thrash Rally. For an extended discussion about the Link-Up Feature, please see THIS thread.

comms..............

I tried it but could not get it to work...League bowling or thrash rally would not seem to communicate with each other, I tried setting the addresses, different cables but no comms.
I gave up in the end....
I may give it another try one day when I get an official link up cable...I tried 4 copies of each game so it is not the game that is causing the problem....

I've never had to change the addresses..

I just had to change :
In the soft dip settings

Multi Mode to "ON"

Setting both machines to that..

I always loved Racing games such as Thrash Rally !

Back in the day Thrash Rally came up, I was a kid amazed with such a beauty for its time.

Now the game looks dated, but it's for me a must have ( OH the nostalgia!!! :tickled: ).

I like the way they call "Camion" instead of "Truck" :kekeke:

Not a very good game by all means but I have it and its ok for a while. What I want to know is way back when the new Neo-Geo AES games came out, at around £150-£300 each, how did this game seriously justify that sort of price tag? Even way back then it may have been an ok game, but in terms of actual game play it lasts about half an hour to complete the whole game?

What do you guys think? I know it’s an arcade game but surely for that sort of cash the average gamer would at least want a couple of hour’s game play out of a single game in order to complete it. It doesn’t even have a proper two player mode, bar the link option, which even still today may prove too costly and complicated for most people!

Sounds good darcotrigger.

Can anyone confirm for me that the wire is a standard male male headphone wire? Stereo?

There is no wire in my 'complete' Thrash Rally.

Hi Chris , so you did not set up the addresses on the dip switches ?
Maybe that is what I did wrong then....
I will give it another go some when....

Yup,..

I didn't change anything except the soft dip setting to multiplay in bother cabs.

I have League Bowling still in the Big Red set to Multiplay so the option in the choose game menu still is shown and will still count down to connect to the other cab(Neo Gold)
I still have the link cable coming out of the cart and hanging in the back of the Big Red.
But,I don't have the second League Bowling cart in the Neo Gold anymore.
If I put the cart in the Neo Gold and plug the link cable in it'll connect right to the Big Red when Multi Game is selected.

I need to put Thrash Rally in and see just what options it has in the soft dips for this..Plus Riding Hero.

I really need to get off my ass and buy another Thrash Rally MVS cart and link them..

..............................................
Let me know what happens...
