I still can't believe that I actually might like a Saturn...

neither can I, I could care less about the shoddy construction of most of their vehicles

I'm pretty sure the idea of this car, etc. is mostly Vauxhall. That is if it isn't ALL Vauxhall.

On the front page of the Detroit Free Press was a GM exec talking about the troubled Saturn division. They have a rep for being a shitty car company and it's going to be hard for them to win over people this day and age.

That car is an ugly rip off of the Solstice Pontiac is comin out with this year. Save the cash and get the Solstice. I've seen it in person and it's one damned sexy car.
I can't wait to own one.

I'd always heard that Saturn is (if any) the only american made cars that don't fall apart.
I've never owned one, but known a few people who have. They all said they're cheap and rattle alot, but lasted along time.

I don't think Saturn is really ripping off Pontiac since they're both GM and using the same platform. I agree in that the Solstice is cool also (I have a picture of me next to one at the recent Auto Show I went to), but I personally like the S2000 styling of the Saturn Sky more. I just hope Saturn keeps the same looks of the Sky when it hits the production line.

This is always what I've heard too. That's why I picked up a used 2002 sl2 a few months ago as a winter car. SO far so good, aside from initial maintenance I had to do because the previous owner obviously didn't know how to take car of an automobile.

And yah, my car rattles a ton, but that's not really any different from any other low end american car I've been in.

Matt

PS: That front end on saturns version of the solstice is fucking badass. Very striking. I can think of several gm cars I wouldn't mind owning these days. Seems american cars are making a comeback.

Agreed. Although I think as of late their warranty program hasn't been as long-lasting as it used to be.

I actually liked the look of the Saturn Ion Quad Coupe. Gotta love the suicide doors. (Although it would make me nervous to get T-boned, no matter what they may say.) I can't find any ratings on how it does in side impact crash tests, either.

It's a good-looking car, but I've noticed that about 10 things start rattling in Saturns after a couple of years. If they can overcome this, then it's all good.

Some of you guys said it looked more like an S2000. When I first saw it, I was thinking more along the lines of a MR2. Doesn't look too bad though. Did GM have a hostile takeover of Vauxhall though cause it certainly looks like it. Still can't believe its a Saturn though.

As for Amercan cars, this year is the return of the muscle cars. The new Mustang, the GTO (which you can get the vented hood and classic GTO Judge color, only missing the stickers), and the new Corvette. Oh yeah, Pontiac rolled out their GTO-R, and its looking pretty damn good. Wouldn't mind driving that bad boy

Vauxhall is a part of GM so that's the main reason why GM can do something so cool. GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz also has a huge hand in why GM is getting cool cars lately. If it wasn't for him I don't think we would've gotten the Holden Monaro (the new Pontiac GTO).

I say to GM, keep up the good work!
