It started a fire in my panties right away I haven't been this excited about a 2d shooter in quite some, gameplay is :buttrock: I need to play it some more though. It's contra hard corps on crack with great visuals and gameplay :buttrock:

Dare I say it, but imho it's better than mslug1 and 2 (altho it isn't really fair because they are much older) mslug 3 was visually impressive but did nothing for me gameplay wise, I won't say anything about mslug4 and I don't care what anyone thinks but mslug 5 was very good.

I also played that dolphin blue a couple of times awful, fucking awful imo maybe I was drunk and angry but meh.

Opinion, comments Please discuss thanks.

I have it and it's great! I don't own a slugs game, so I can't talk about that....

:spock: Do yourself a favor and buy some slugs, they are dirt cheap in MVS and are well worth it, if you like Demon Front you'll love the slugs to.

really badass game it has old snk written all over it, great enemy design, great style, great gameplay and more etc etc I never actually thought a game like this would exist, better than ezra

2d hand drawn forever, gameplay is really something, charas are actually different

when I played dolphin blue I was like meh is this how it ends for the 2d shooter eh well, it's so, so I guess but I feel indifferent to it, just not in the same league as mlsug not even close

here's a review

http://www.kidfenris.com/dblue.html

I don't get it? The guy pisses all over the game and then he gives it a B, then demon front should get a A++++ imo

Being a huge Slug fan, I'd love to try out DF at some point.
Perhaps I'll purchase it as no arcades anywhere around here have it.

Demon Front, while it is a good game in its own right,is far and away from the goodness that is Metal Slug.

Graphically,it is somewhat superior to the 'Slugs, thanks to the newer and more powerful PGM hardware. The backgrounds and sprites are beautifully drawn and fluidly animated.

However,do not judge this game by its look, alone. DF falls way short in the creativity department,as most of it were heavily borrowed from the 'Slugs, themselves. The sound effects are decent, but not spectacular. The BGMs are okay at best,as they are forgettable and very uninspired. It kinda just chugs along with the game's slowpace. As a matter of fact,DF plays more like Cyber-Lip than 'Slug! Also, the lack of multiple character/enemy death sequences hurt as well...you only get very few for each character/enemy.

Sadly,DF is average at best, and nothing more.

MS owns DF big time!

I don't agree with that post at all if not better then at least on par with slug and maybe only mslug2 and mslug when they were still fresh and exciting, I played all the slugs after 1 and 2 and even though they were good but just not the same good feeling.

Demon front gave me that feeling a shooter that goes out of the box, gameplay is tight man! lots of cool platform elements and heated fire fights I just cannot agree with you opinion but to call it average at best is a slap in the face :spock:

I'm still playing this game over and over agin, IT ROCKS

I believe everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Therefore, take mine with a grain of salt,if you will.

Seriously, the game reeks Metal Slug....other than the fact that it plays at a much slower pace. It's a shame how it falls way short even compared to something as old as the original MS,circa 1995.

Anyway,MS > DF...for the last time.

I got the PGM mobo with this game for 218$ at cosmicco, and the $ is dirt cheap now for me... I know it's not exactly cheap, but for people used to arcade stuff (I won't even mention AES) it's not that prohibitive.

While the game GAVE me wood [I sold it a few months back] I got tired of it after awhile and can't argue with anything Big said. Its a great Slug clone....can't hold the original.

$218 is a months worth of paychecks :crying:

i just cant see dropping $200+ on a system that ill probably only get the one game for. sure i used to do shit like this all the time(looks at ngh collection), but i dont think it's really the smartest thing to do :emb:

i guess 'luckily' i dont have the arcade fever anymore. itll come back eventually, and by then, hopefully it'll be cheaper.

edit: since PGM emulation is starting to mature I guess there's no real need to do anything but wait awhile. :D

Well, of course you are right, but there's been Neo Geo emulation for a while and (some) people around here still have/buy the originals, don't they?

As far as I know, only early PGM games such as Knights of Valor and Oriental Legend are publically emulated, and they lack sound. Later games such as Demon Front are still too new for the scrupulous dumpers/programmers to release them publically, and I think it's a good thing. They'll eventually get released though, possibly next year, just like happened to Progear last week.

Played some slugs (#1) at a friend's house....and IMO, I wouldn't call DF a slugs clone. Maybe a distant cousin or something...but IMO, "clone" is a bit strong.

But....I am going after a slugs game in the near future though, along with a couple neo sports games.

Yeah, clone isn't exactly the correct term to use when comparing DF to MS,since a "clone" would insinuate the fact that they are both pretty much "on par" or "equal" to a certain extent.

I think "rip-off" would be best? :annoyed:

I brought Demon front and Dolphin Blue to this weeks MN Neo Gathering. Of all the games most played this year, it was Ketsui and Dolphin Blue, but in short, here is what I think:

Demon Front:

Great, great game. I don't love it as much as the "Slugs", but it sure ranks up there inmy collection.

Dolphin Blue:

Fantastic Run N' Gun game. Not the best, but it sure is a great deal of fun! Lot's of action, intensity, and cathartic gameplay. Tops.
