Lunar For DS
Marvelous Interactive's DS game makes us look twice.
By Anoop Gantayat
January 4, 2005 - If you were tuning in to IGNDS a few months prior to the DS's release, you may have come upon a game titled "Luna." First announced by Marvelous Interactive in early October as part of a big lineup of new DS games, the full identity of this title was a mystery.

The game's proper English spelling was also apparently somewhat of a mystery, as we got it wrong. We translated the name as "Luna," which is a reasonable way to translate the two Japanese alphabetic characters "Ru" and "Na" that form it. Another way is "Lunar," and an update to the Marvelous Interactive website today reveals that "Lunar" is indeed the correct English spelling (unless the people who produce the Marvelous website screwed up).
Lunar is actually just a tentative name for what appears to be an early game. Pricing and release information have yet to be revealed for the title. Nor has Marvelous provided any details on what we can expect from the game.

This isn't the first time the name "Lunar" has been used for a game. Japanese RPG developer Gamearts used the name most famously in a couple of memorable Sega CD RPGs that were later brought to the Saturn and PlayStation. Gamearts has announced that it is working on a new RPG for the DS, but it's unclear if the Lunar that has been announced by Marvelous is that game (for the record, we're guessing no).

With Lunar, the DS is getting some mighty marvelous support from Marvelous Interactive. In addition to Lunar, Marvelous is also working on Harvest Moon, Urusei Yatsura, Kawa no Nushi Tsuri and an original RPG for the system.

This would definitely be a superb addition to the DS lineup of up and coming RPGS :buttrock: :buttrock:
*... as long as its in the vein of the original Lunars... or maybe an addition to them*

PS... sorry of this has already been posted.

I've never played the original Lunar, but if this game turns out to be good I'll probably pick this up. Seeing as how I freaking love my ds to death!

I had Lunar: The Silver Star for Sega CD and used to love that game to death. Nice RPG, but I haven't played any of the more recent offerings.
I will probably pick up the DS version for nostalgia reasons alone....here's hoping it's a great game!

If it is a new installment of the Lunar series, I'm going to buy a DS for sure. That's my favourite RPG saga of all time.

I'd love a new Lunar game, but I've got a rocket in my pocket for the Ys stuff, so I'll be buying at least that for PSP and hopefully DS too.

I wouldn't say that. There is a ton of good stuff coming RPG wise to teh DS.

if I am right... Squeenix has the majority of support towards the DS right now.
