Holy shit I totally forgot this game was around the corner! Now I'm digging between the cusions for change. On top of that, seems Capcom has really hit the nail on the head with this one, it's getting reviews on the level of GTA and Halo all around. Great news indeed. I'm going to be whoring myself out on the corner to get some cash together, see you guys later!

Please don't mention those 3 games in the same sentence ever again.

Granted I don't own a Halo or GTA game, I'm just happy to see that it has gotten some good public recognition. Given all the trash I've heard people talking about it at retail simply because it was on Gamecube. So I just refered to it within the scope of the competitions biggest hits review and sales wise. Not to imply RE4 will meet those sells.

I wouldn't say RE4 is for graphics whores, not in the least. In the case of some genres graphics can play an important part, and there is no doubt that RE4 is a beautiful game, but that is primarly part of the reason why its atmosphere comes across so well. Stack that on top of other great qualities and you make an excellent game. Is a game good for graphics? No. Is a game bad for having good graphics? No. I don't naturally assume that everyone playing GTA enjoys it because they like to just run around picking up hookers and killing cops. Of course, I don't have to, as that's really all most people I know that play the game do. At least, as far as I've seen.

from gamerankings.com:

Average Ratio: 99.3% - (99.3%)

Seems to be doing even better than GTA: SA so far - very encouraging news indeed. Not that I take IGN's reviews to be the gospel truth, but their review refers to RE4 as the "best survival horror game ever made". This game will sell quite a few Gamecubes.

Only a few days now. I remember when I first saw the screenshots of the original RE4. I probably won't play it until I beat MGS3,so it will be tough staring at a sealed copy.

Well, too bad for GC Enthusiasts that this will be ported over to ps2. Actually, I'm not even sure "ported" is the right word because work on the ps2 version probably started before the GC one was done.
This game may convince me to dig my GC out of mothballs, although after MP2, I was almost expecting to not have to drag it out until GC Zelda.

There's going to be a very lengthy delay before the PS2 is released, so it won't impact GC RE4 sales at all.

I'm not a big fan of the horror genre, but this game looks freakin' sick.

When people knock the gc for being kiddy it makes me cringe. People wanna keep up their image even while playing video games? Is that a contradiction?

Anyway you here this shit all the time while playing on live. I started just ignoring other people stupidity.

Sounds very cool. I'm not sure if the game will scare me in any way. Most res evils have stopped doing that for me, for quite some time. But at least it may be fun doing so. The demo looked great. Great for the graphics are right up there with a convincing B-horror movie. For some, the bad because it looks like it will emulate a B-horror movie perfectly. Still, I'm all for the idea of an interactive game that somehow puts me in complete control of a character in a B-horror movie done right.

What's especially interesting about this game is not simply the graphics, but the graphic style they decided to go with. The graphic style is almost more Silent Hillish, this time around. Right down to the somewhat gritty look of the lead character. It's kind of reminiscent of SH 2-4. Still, those rejects from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre are cool.

Which reminds me, I've still yet to pick up SH4. I'm thinking about doing so, but I have a few playthroughs of Fatal Frame 2, directors cut, to finish first. Oddly enough, Silent Hill 2 (Pyramid man might be the freakiest and most disturbing character known to Survival horror) and Fatal Frame (jump scares galore and the only one that can do so while in combat) have become my favorites, even though I pretty much have the survival horror games of Resident Evil under my belt. I skipped the RE gun games and stuff.

I really can't wait to get this game after I played the demo version.

Yea, I don't see the ps2 version affecting the sales of the GC version, but a lot of GC fanboys were using this game in flame wars to try to burn ps2 fanboys for quite some time, ie:

XD XD ur not getting RE4 XD XD NINTENDO RULEZ GAMEFAQS RULEZ XD !!

Heh...I bet there were a few pissed off foo's when news of the ps2 version got out.

It has though. It was supposed to be the game that Resident Evil fans couldn't do without even with it being on the GCN. They were supposed to go out and buy GCN for it. When Capcom announced before it even came out that a PS2 version was on the way those guys said screw it I'll wait.

Screw it, I'll wait for a shitty version that will be out in a year? WTF? Where's the logic in that?

Whatever.

I can't imagine anyone who hadn't already bought a GC planning to buy one just for RE4 back when they thought the game was a GC exclusive...not this late in the system's life.

"Those guys"? I don't know a single fan of the series that's waiting, and I've heard hundreds pf people talking about the game. People who weren't big fans weren't going to buy a GC over this game, whether it was coming out on other systems or not; it's way too late for Nintendo to count on that kind of thinking when their next console is due in a year or whatever. Most people who are big fans of RE already have a GC and won't wait.

That's what I was thinking. GTA doesn't hold my interest at all, and I'd rather chew glass than play another FPS. Not to mention, RE4 seems to be a whole new direction for the series, with new innovations added, and new gameplay, while GTA and Halo 2 are just barely updated rehash of earlier instalments.

It isn't so much a reason for people to buy a system, few will do it for one game. But it's one more very good reason too. Which a lot of people will likely see as being a good reason for getting a Cube. People knew that Splinter Cell was coming to systems other than X-box, yet it sells strongest on the X-box. People were pretty sure GTA:SA was coming to PC and X-box, as they did with the previous two, but a ton of people still bought the games on PS2. The casual gamer is very rarely going to buy more than one system, for any reason.

In one respect, I think the huge amount of time between releases is enough not to really hurt sales of the Gamecube version, perhaps it dented potential sells of systems, however.

At the same time, I think the only thing that annoys me is that they announced the PS2 version so close to the release of the Gamecube one, they didn't even give it a few months to sell before announcing it. It's almost as if they want the game to do subpar on the Gamecube.

Then again, there still hasn't been any word on an outside of Japan release for the PS2 version. Though I figure it's a slim chance that it wouldn't.

Now watch Gamespot try to be hardcore and give the game a 7 or something.
This will most unfortunately happen. They gave MGS3 an 8.7, while the rest of the world is giving it at least a 9.3 or higher. MGS3 was GOTY for 2004 IMO. Screw GTA, Halo, and World of Warcraft, its all about the MGS3.

It does happen though. And since RE has sold no where near what it did when it was on the Playstation there have to be alot of people out there who didn't want to play a Prequel or a Pretty port and would rather a brand new game.

That's E32K3 RE4.

You can also find stuff from RE4:Devil May Cry if you look around.

But none of it has to do with RE4 that's coming out (they've torn the game apart and remade it to perfect no less than 4 times)
