I finally picked up this gem and DAMN! I was sailing through this game, okay maybe not sailing but moving at a decent clip and then I hit Alma. Fucking whore bag bitch just rips me a new asshole. On top of that I have no life potions and one Ninpo potion. I totally had her on the ropes once and BAM she just whups me with one of here 1/2 life taking moves.

I saw some posts here early last year and I thought people were just being n00b bitches. I was wrong. The game is great fun and a nice challenge, but they should give you a better indication/prep time before a boss like Alma. Anyways, just had to vent, died like my 15th time fighting this cunt rag. I'll get her, where there is a will there is a way.

Its great. It has the best next-gen visuals of any game I've played and maintains that old school challenge. Enjoy and we can rant together :p

From the 30 agonizing minutes I made myself put into the game, I know if I tried to complete it, I'd have nothing but several broken controllers and a lot of holes in my wall.

I downloaded the hurricane patch and TRIED to participate in the tournament they held. I quit after like the 9000th time I died. This game is way too hard.

I really did a 180 on this game. At first, I really didn't dig it, but one day I grabbed it again, and just decimated it! Beat all the modes, and beat all the extra missions (Yes, even the 60 Dragon Battle). Now, if only I could get the Hurricane Packs. I really, really want them to be released as expansion disc's, or I hope some XBOX hacker finds a way to throw it on a modded BOX.

Really, I love this game, and I want more. I can do a run on hard without loosing a life, and now I want the challenge of the Hurricane Packs!!!

Have you been banned from live? If not just use one of those free trial cards for that only. Worth a shot.

when you come up from the caves in the elevator, when you exit that room, if you look over the catherdral you can see two pillars ajacent to each other. 1 pillar has a maxlife on it, the other has max ninpo.

Use the fireball ninbo. stand right under her, then do it. the surrounding flames will knock her to the floor meaning the fireball will always hit her. then just charge at her and kick the shit out of her.

If you try and go in Live with a modded BOX, you get axed immediatly. Honesty, I have no interest in getting live, if only for that.

Oh yeah, the swallow swipe is your friend. Try and use it while she's idle for a moment. After that, she will kneel. Do the LS HS LS LS LS LS combo on her, then get out. Dodge the stone pillars by running either left or right and repeat. :mr_t:

Yeah I HATE that part of the game. I beat her after something like my 200th time on hard. The good news is that most of the bosses after that are pretty easy. The bad news is that the glowing fish are coming up :make_fac: .

You either love the fish or you hate the fish. I tend to fall into the love category because they have MAD payoff. Want to buy everything in the game? Learn the pattern for attacking the fish and you'll be loaded faster than *pretty much* any other method, in the game. It still takes time, no doubt, but it makes a big difference when you're carting off with so much stuff to buy things with, each time you do a few fights with them. They are the sole reason for me getting all my weapons to full advancement within Chapter 13.

The Ghost Fish are WAY more annoying than Alma - once you get the hang of her pattern well, you can nail her pretty much every time. Use any and all opportunities to kill respawning enemies for big essence and keep everything stocked to the max.

BTW, the 60 dragon battle can be beaten by hopping onto the lowest platform in the left-hand wall as you enter, staying there the entire time and dropping a beam here or there with Rachel's War Hammer - the dragons can't hurt you. One of the easiest "tough" battles in the game.

This game takes skill, and I want it pretty badly. I will pick it up someday and start threads like these (except maybe more lame, like level 1 boss is kicking my balls up to my throat!).

Don't worry too much. If you have trouble with the ghost fish, just come back here and we'll tell you the secret to handing them all of their butts back to them. Once you know it, the fishes are actually a non-difficult cash cow. A lot of people who fight them are afraid to use Ninjustsu as they are conditioned to think that you have precious few uses at a time and that you should conserve them. When you learn to time jumps, make good use of Flails, and use the Ninja magic less sparingly against them; they become easy. The main reason is, they drop EVERYTHING. Used a stock of magic and want one back? They got it. Need a bit of health you lost from a little miss here and there? They can supply it. Are you a little low on funds? They got the payout. They probably win the award for the fastest orb(any) intake, per time spent, in the game.

They will annoy you when you first meet them. Just be prepared for that. Until you find the proper method in dealing with them, they can seem evil. But there is a sure fire solution. Once you know the solution, you'll find yourself pursuing an encounter with those things. Especially if you're going for 100%. The actual execution of the solution is easy. It's finding it (without hints), that takes a bit longer.

Make sure you power up the wooden sword to get the Unlabored Flawlessnes. It's VERY worth it!!!

I know how you feel. I just had this last week and she was kickin' my butt like it was nothing. I was in the same situation as you too; one life potion and nothing but my Dragon Sword and Vigorian Flairs. I'll have to rent the game again so I can get the NES Ninja Gaiden.

I know that a lot of people swear by the fully powered Wooden Sword, but for my money, I'd prefer a fully powered Dabilahro any day. Unlabored Flawlessness is plenty fun, but its a huge waste of money in game terms. For the loot, the Dabilahro is tops - blocking moves for one-hit kills.

I'm really interested in picking up this game, I do a love a challange.

However, is it true that the US / PAL versions are censored?

If so I think it would be better to get the Jap version.

There are 2 parts of the game where you can max out your money in about 15 min. One in the catacombs, one in the sewers. If you ask me, the 15 min detour is worth it.

Its how you use it. If you can risk the symbols glowing red it can do some serious damage although I never have problems with money so I get it anyway for fun. If you think Alma is bad, try the HP Alma 2. HP Alma 2 >>> Alma 1 > Regular Alma 2
Many complained Alma 2 was too easy (which was true). Team Ninja listened, and made her more difficult and gave her some new tricks. Especially that one move that does like 75% damage if you have about 60& of the health powerups. Also the final boss is the easist boss in the game (just FS to death), but the final boss was improved by being immune to FS.I haven't tried HP2 yet.

Man, I remember fighting Alma. Only time in about 10 years that I threw down a controller in disgust. Trust me though, after her, the game gets a lot easier. Not to spoil anything, but the last part is cake compared to Alma. Good times, though.

I'm waiting for this game to go 20 bucks so I can play through the Hurricane Packs.
