Is this game any good or would I be better off sticking with older Capcom 2D fighters?

It is an older Capcom fighter.

It's essentially DarkStalkers 3 with a few extra gameplay modes thrown into the mix.

Woo...Capcom can still port things like mad.

I wish to God it was a NEW 2d fighter...

Fighting Jam was an insult to SF's legacy.

I'm thinking of selling my copy

or burning it

haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning towards burning it

First title I'll be picking up. The screens have that stretched look though, but I'm sure I'll get used to that with time.

It took me a few seconds to realize that your sig is not a shot from some comedy movie making fun of bowling, but is, in fact, a picture of an actual professional bowler, as if he were some kind of sports hero. Surreal.

As for the rest of your post, I'm not sure if you mean 'a fighter older than Darkstalkers' or 'older Capcom PSP 2D fighters'. Neither one makes much sense.

The game is rocksolid if you liked the original games, but it is not at all optimized for the PSP in the japanese version.

what i mean by that is : if you want to change character after a loss, the game will load the whole shiny character selection screen instead of having just for example character head icon below Continue message, that means 15 seconds load for character screen and another 15 seconds to return to game where there could have been a single 8 seconds one just to load your new character.

Same for multiplayer, they could have thrown in just a text list of fighters to allow fast fights but no... allways loading the heavy selection screen

It feels like a NeoCD fighter :)

Sony be damned to have 1.5MB/s transfer rate only with UMD

Ive not seen any 15 second load times for the character select screen, it is more like 5 seconds. Only noticable load times are the initial load (without any progress) at about 15 seconds and before a match at about 10-15 seconds.

There are two members here that write almost exactly alike... You and Fran.

And I always get a kick out of what you two say. The same matter-of-factness, the same cynical yet truthful way of expression.

Its funny.

And I hate fighters with load times too. Its one more reason why frankly NEO shit on cart is still teh shit.

I have the game inhand. Been playing it for two weeks. I think I know the load times.
