I've been reading some wild rumours about PSO coming out for DS at some point. They are of course just that...wild rumours, as I have seen nothing to confirm this at all. Anyone know anything about it coming out for DS, or PSP even?
I'd love to see a version of it on at least one of the handhelds.

That would be clutch, but I can only see the PSP handling such a game.

Have you guys heard about the BIG anouncement from Nintendo in March? It's supposed to be an online system debut for the ds...

I've only got a DS at the moment, but I could see myself cracking and buying a PSP if they released PSO for it(irony, maybe? sony had the only major console not to get a port of it a few years back).
Anyhow, because of the real-time menu thing, the DS screen set-up would be a perfect fit, IMHO...hopefully if it ever gets ported, Sonic Team can figure out a way of bringing it to the DS without it looking and playing like total shite.
But I'd love to see it even on PSP.

I've heard, yes. But stuff right now just seems to be total speculation as to what it could be. I'd pee my pants if it ended up being a huge online debut with PSO tacked on somewhere.

I already have sex with my ds, but now think what I'd do with online capabilities and with a built in mic.. I see nothing but rough and dirty sex in the future!

Tonk is right about this one sadly... it s not a matter of graphics, but PSO would require far too much memory for the DS (4MB or RAM) whereas PSP would have enough to allow a medium-sized multiplayer version imho (32MB).

I'm thinking that there is another reason for the gba port on the ds besides backwards capiblity. In the next year of so I think we will se flash card and ram upgrades. Could be wrong but I feel there's more than meets the eye.

Could not the GBA port be used for expansions to boost RAM? I'm not sure it would be worth it on a business level for just this game, but I thought I read somewhere that this could be done with GBA-sized upgrade paks.

I may pick one of these up when they come out. I'll get my adult titles on the ds. Oh yes I'll get my adult titles on the ds.

Hell, you can boot the DS's ARM-9 through the GBA slot if you're a talented programmer. (or say they're saying around the DS Dev scene which wanted to pull this off as they already have GBA flashcarts on hand so they can make things like DSLinux faster)

I would not be worried about the amount of ram on the DS, the N64 had the same (yes before the expanison pack) and was capable of a great deal. PSO could easily be strunk down to run on DS, what's more of an issue is if the DS will go on wireless internet and how much it will cost.

If a handheld ever goes online I'll officially lose all hope in gaming and quit the hobby for good.

PSO on the DS?! If true, I'd but all over that like white on rice.

I could see it. Up to four player co-op playing off the single cartridge. Gameplay on the top screen, touch-screen keyboard on the bottom. It would look muddy as hell, but for a portable PSO...graphics can take a back seat.

Yeah, the PSO on DS rumor started up just this past E3 when the hardware was shown. I wouldn't mind it, I think a version of PSO could be done well on the DS. Not a port mind you, but an actual version made for DS, I think they could do some really neat things with it, and make a very impressive looking game in the progress.

It is known that Nintendo and Square-Enix have been working pretty closely on getting some games running online for DS. They will likely be the first, though I recall Bandia saying that they had gotten some PC systems to read the DS on a network and such. So who knows. Either way, developers seem pretty adamant about getting their games online with the DS. I would love the idea of an online game on a handheld, something that can read into a network without having to be tunneled. But at the same time, I don't think I'm willing to pay monthly fees for that kind of thing, as there are to many places where I could take advantage of that around here. Just home and on campus. Not a lot of hotspots in such rural areas. But who knows, Nintendo has always said their plan was to have online gaming be free, should they find an affordable way to do it.

This can't be real? Or can it?
Well, no surprise, I guess, considering such past hybrids such as:
