alright my saturn (that i just got off of ebay!) is giving me shit already. i try to play a game but it takes me to the CD player every time saying "no disk in drive" the disks don't spin either. i can hear it trying to read em, i just see no spinning. is there a quick fix to this? or should i try and get a refund on it? cause this is pissing me off, quite a bit too. or if anyone has an old saturn they wanna give me, that'd be cool too, then i could ditch this one! haha!

Get a refund.

I only ever had issues like that with a modded saturn that needed the right switches flipped for each game type.

I suspect the drive has gone, so you bought a faulty saturn.... if it was advertised as working, get a refund.

i'll have to look into that actually. since i had my buddy bid on it for me and i paid him for it, i'll have to walk him through it. any faq's or guides on how to get pay pal to give back the dough?

and you sure you can't think of someway to fix it? i mean i really like the games it came with.

i ordered a JAP Saturn off of ebay and it would do the same thing. I took it apart, and there was a modd chip connected to the ribbon running from the motherboard to the disc drive. I took that out and reconnected the ribbon and it works great. i did have another system next to it to compare to but it was pretty obvious. I would take the case off (a few phillips head screws) and see if there is anything fishy before you return it.
i think the problem was one of the chips wires was rattled loose during shipping because it was "aftermarket" and poorly soldered.
hope this helps

i took it apart and noticed nothing funny. until i found the two dead moths on the power strip... i removed their carcases and decided to clean the rest of it, and still no spinning disk. i think this thing is just determined to not work. or has a dead drive.

i think i'll keep it as i like the games it came with (darius gaiden and clockwork knight) and then just pick up a new saturn. hell i don't even need hookups, controllers, or anything. just the deck.

I know bendor told you to check for anything unsual and you didn't find anything but you should really check the cd ribbon cable again. The reason is because it is really hard to tell if the cable pins are not in all the way. I just took one of my Saturns out of my closet the other day and it wouldn't read any discs as well but I took the cable off and put back in with some pressure and tried again and it worked. This doesn't have anything to do with a mod-chip so you don't have to have one for this to happen. Give this a try before you buy another Saturn just in case.
