This is possibly a bad idea, many (most?) SCART TVs and many J-RGB capable displays use only composite video for their sync signal. If you're going to do this I'd strongly suggest testing with your display first, or adding a switch to change the other output to Cvid or Csync on the fly. It's possible to mod the A/V port to output stereo because if it's an RGB cable composite is not needed so the mono and composite pins can be used for stereo.
did this mod several times...both composite and sync from the A/V port can be used to sync on scart TVs.

Even if SCART tv's get thier Csync off of the Cvideo lead (definatly true for many console systems with no sync outupt), you could probably feed the Csync to both pins.
Hell, most (or at least alot) of RGB monitors can be fed a Cvideo instead of Csync.

Dreamcazman said:What are you talking about? What pins do you want to connect the sync to?
Robert - Scart connectors do have stereo connections, it's just the Neogeo doesn't natively output stereo from the AV port.

If I do the rgb bypass mod and disable composite output, but still use the composite pin for sync then that means the sync pin 7 is unused. Can I then run wires from the headphone jack, one to the mono pin and one to the sync pin to output stereo sound from the a/v cable. Then all I need to do is rewire the a/v scart cable to use the left and right sound channels in the scart socket. Then I wouldn't need to bother drilling the case to install stereo jacks.
MKL, is this the mod you were talking about?
I don't get why Europeans bitch about Americans Mega molding their systems but they modify the Dim sockets on PC Engine and Neo's rendering them useless on NTSC televisions. In the end a Super Grafx owner in Italy will probably never sell his system and it will never leave Italy but what if a US customer would happen to accidentally buys the system. That one less super grafx in the world.

I think that it is time that somebody does a true comparison of NTSC inputs to PAL scart input "I would if I could". The reason that I say this is because every person that I ever knew that lived in Europe said that there TV's where shit compared to US TV's, and they had a bad problem with the picture rolling. Are they wrong?![]()

I don't know where your friends were, but I've been to USA and I prefer European TV's. NTSC= Never Twice Same Colour. The only problem we've had with videogames for a long while (other than having to wait a long time to get them and prices) have been 50 hz conversion slowdown and bars, but thankfully this is almost solved now.
About modding systems, I don't see where's the problem in trying to get the best picture possible according to your own set-up. If after that the system can't be used in another country then just don't buy it, it's not like everything has to finish in the USA. Manufacturers themselves make some games or system only compatible with one market. Is like wanting European people doing superguns or consolized boards to include NTSC encoders in case they finish in USA.
The people I work with were from Germany but NSTC TV's also rolled bad back in the pre cable TV's days.
I have just seem a lot of negative comments from Euro members on the forum ever since the Neobritz came out, about NSTC members mega modding their systems. The reason I started this is because for years I read in video mags about the problems Europeans had playing import games on their TV sets but scart has seem to solve that problem.
