Most Underrated MVS/AES Game?

After looking over the Top 10 MVS game thread I saw a lot of games that normally don't get a lot of attention. It got me thinking about which MVS/AES games are underrated and overlooked?

If you had to pick one game that you felt more people should know about, what would it be?

Robo Army would be my pick :buttrock:

It has a pseudo futuristic Ikari Warriors feel to it and is fun to button smash with 2 players on a cab. Graphics quirkiness aside, it's a fun game that a lot of my friends remember playing in the arcades and has definite nostalgia to it.

Any games you guys feel have gone unnoticed to the masses?

I think Windjammers deserves to be in this category. Neo owners know all about it, but everyone else is clueless. I invite them over and they play it for hours and won't leave.

I'd say Fatal Fury 3. Everybody talks about how great FF Special, Real Bout serie and Garou are, but never 3, and is one of my favourite fighters for 1 player.

I'm gonna go with Double Dragon actually. Despite the fact its based on a crappy live action movie...this is one solid fighter. The graphics are pretty decent as well, its cool how you can power up and your outfits change and then your special moves as well.

Its not one of the greatest fighters out there..but its pretty fun anyways, and hardly ever talked about. And its dirt cheap on the NGCD.

true, true. This is one of my favorites actually. I'm porbably biased because its technos. I have always wondered why some people put it down, when Its really a fun game for what it is.

I would also say the mahjong games are underrated. They really surprised me and are a blast to play.

Matrimelee doesn't seem to get as much accolades as I would think it deserves, I'll throw that hat in the ring.

played slug1 last night right before some motw. i will forever suck, but it's still underappreciated.

matrimelee is another good one, a refined rotd engine could go a long way not to mention the quack music and eye-turning special effects.

For all the glorified puzzle games the Neo has Pop 'n Bounce gets completely overlooked by most and I think that is a horrid shame. Competitive Alley Way with fun and challenging twists on the power-ups and the random layouts per level can make this game impossibly hard, or just extremely challenging, very high replay value and the action can get pretty frenetic. It comes together beautifully as a finished product too with the visuals & sounds. But alas, nobody ever cares about it.

Everyone oohs and aahs over Pulstar and Blazing Star, but for my money, Last Resort whoops both of their asses. Underrated.

League Bowling is one of those games that no one expects to enjoy until they finally get to play it. Very, very fun with a friend and a brew.

wow there are alot of games that I like they are underrated but for fighter it would have to be Matrimelee, sports street hoop, and for puzzle MD2

Kizuna Encounter is fucking bad ass, i only wish people would get past the price point and actually appreciate the game. sigh.

i'm also quite the supporter of Art Of Fighting 2, a game constantly put down by those who can't understand it's engine, and Metal Slug 4, which is the best after the original imo.

Rage of the Dragon

It's a nice fighter with a good character line up,cool BG's, and music. I just think that it gets lost in the KoF, SS, and Matrimelee shuffle. Another one would have to be Metal Slug 4 and Riding hero, both either just gets ignored or just flat out shitted on

i totally agree. my brother thought it was stupid for 5 mins ... then he wouldnt stop playing it. its a terribly addictive game.

as far as puzzles ... i'd say puzzle de pon. it gets lost in the puzzle bobble/bust a move and magical drop mix.

I got Kizuna recently on mvs and just cannot get into it. I'm not a big fan of the characters for starters. I vote for ultimate 11 for all the bad press it always gets. I like the game alot, reminds me of world wide soccer on the saturn or virtua striker.
