It would be nice to hear some opinions of what do you like is the best Neo Geo Controller and why.
I am planning to purchase the system and would like to know what controllers should I buy with it.

Happy New Year to everyone! :multi_co:

Just don't buy the CD controller. Promise me that.

I'm partial to the old style stick, personally, but a mint Hori is probably the very best way to go, IMO.

ive never used a hori stick, plan to get one though, but im in the minority, i prefer the new style stick to the old style when it comes to fighting games, but for everything else i use the old style.

The CLASSIC STYLE is the best. Why? Because it's a very comfortable and sturdy plastic mold, the buttons are aligned perfectly and it's size is maxxed out just enough for a human to handle which means it's not bulky enough to warrant placing it on a desk or table in order to play.

Old Style Stick gets the nod from me, although I haven't played the Horis. New Style stick is ok, but to me doesn't feel nearly as nice as the Old Style - mainly because the stick is too short IMO. CD pads are pretty much worthless for fighting games, although they do fine for most other games (Slugs, sports titles, etc.).

The main thing that appeals to me about the New Style is the fact that the ABCD buttons, while not arcade-quality, feel more solid and are less noisey than the hollow /chunky plastic buttons on the old style. In other words, for games like Metal Slug where you constantly tap away, the new style works wonders.

For fighting games, the old style's stick is more precise and just all around easier to hold and use. Your mileage may vary, as always.

i feel kinda the opposite, i think the new style stick is more precise, because it has a thin metal plate inside that guides the stick in a smaller square than the old style sticks did.

New Style all the way for me.

The buttons are lined up like an arcade config's. Not angled like the old style.
The buttons stick up, not sunken down slightly into the controller like the old style.

Some say the new style isn't as durable, I disagree. I've used the hell out of mine for almost a year now and it was used when I bought it. It still works and feels 100% fine.

EDIT: Your best bet is probably to order 2 controllers and get one each. It's all a matter of what you like best. If you decide you can't stand one of them you shouldn't have much trouble selling it.

Depends.

For MD3 only the old style stick will do.

But for eveything else:

1. Hori Fighting Stick Neo II
2. Old Style stick
3. Newer stick

The CD controller is nowhere on the list as it sucks. Probably the worst controller I've ever owned. Heck, I'd even rank the big ass Jaguar controller over it.

It's overpriced, and under-built. About reliable as a Ford Taurus.

New style stick for me. Great button placement being the main reason. I can play comfortably with my four fingers, with the old style stick I have to use my thumb and three fingers for the buttons if I want to play comfortably. :shame:

Still have yet to use a Hori for the neo though.
