Hi,

Im new to these forums so ill start by introducing myself. Im a long term neo geo fan, but have only owned MVS stuff, i mainly collect Sega stuff,...

anyway, here the question. I want to buy some neo geo cd games from a shop near me, but im not sure how to tell exactly if the games are legit. The owner of the shop is an honest person, but i just want to be sure that i am getting a good deal.

I have had a look at the cd's and all appear to be pressed with full color booklets, but is there anything else that i should be looking for?

Also, im not sure on price, there are some good games in the lot, ie metal slug 1 +2 and pulstar pluss 22 others including all of the usual suspects. All of the cd's are perfect but some of the manuals show signs of what appears to be dirt even though they haven't been used. only few of them include spine cards. I know that i am being a bit vague, and i have checked out the price guides but am still in doubt as to what a reasonable price would be.

Oh yeah, all games are JAP region

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I have never heard about fake neo geo CD games so you don't have to worry too much. Concerning the price, The price guide is a good start. The NGCD game values are now stable so you can count on what you have found here.

Welcome...
The two links Takumaji gave should answer any questions you may have.

As for the price of the games, I don't find that the price guide is really that accurate at this point in time. For instance Metal Slug used to fetch a fairly expensive price of $120+..now its pretty easy to find for $75+. Also the price guide doesn't take into consideration the price differences in US and JPN cd's...usually US will bring a considerable bit more cash than the cheaper JPN counterparts. Missing spinecards will knock the price down a bit as well, and dirty manuals will knock it down even more.
