Save the mods the trouble later. Would also save us all the annoyance of running into indecipherable posts all over the place.

Do you have a picture of THAT that I could use instead?

Okay, maybe Shion will have to go. She's not really Michael Bolton-y enough, anyway.

edit: this will have to do until I am provided with said picture.

Hey Jro...I did not know you were from Colorado. I had a game store out in Littleton, Colorado until about eight months ago.

I closed it down when I moved to MN. Where are you located at?

No kidding! I am in Fort Collins. But I work in a small town near Northglenn and I am quite familiar with most of the Metro Area, having done internships and grad work in Arvada and Parker, and my parents having lived in Westminster and Thornton.

What was the store and how are you liking MN?

The store was called Game World and it was located in Littleton, Co. I had it for about three years prior to moving up to MN last April. I miss having a store, it was really nice to have first pick of all of the used items that came in.

There should be a Game Force up your way that is pretty good. I thought about opening up one of those, since I know the owner, but the buy in is pretty high.

Anyway...I am not a big fan of MN. After living in CO. for so many years, it is hard to get use to such a cold wasteland. (I am right by the Canadian border)

It looks like you picked up a PSP? Did you also get the DS? I have been enjoying the DS and am going to pick up a PSP when they are released in the USA. I would import if they were in the 300 range. Anyway...post some impressions when you receive yours.

Yeah, where? I remember Games Central used to be in Littleton on Bellevue. I've never heard of Game World before. Unfortunately, there's been quite a few good game stores that closed down around Denver over the years :( Luckily, Boulder Game Force still a great store.

Yeah, the Boulder Game Force is THE place to go in Colorado when you want to buy imports over the counter. I still remember the first time I walked in there. My jaw dropped and I quickly tried to calculate in my head just how much money I would be putting on the old Visa that day :D .

@Gameoz: I never even knew about Gameworld! Can't believe I totally missed it. For years I was quite the loyal GameForce customer, mainly at the Fort Collins store. It's really gone downhill now, though, and I hardly ever go in there. I think buying in to the chain and running a GF right is pretty cool, though, judging by how nice the Boulder and Aurora stores are.

I used to be a manager at Babbage's, so I still shop in there since I know all the employees.

You are correct, I did win a PSP off eBay. It was accepted and cleared customs in San Francisco yesterday, so I should be receiving it very soon. Also have four games coming- Lumines, Vampire Chronicles, Ridge Racers, and Minna No Golf. I will post impressions as soon as I get it.

I bought a DS on launch day; I had preordered it about 6 mos. early. I liked Mario 64 okay, but just really couldn't get into it. I ended up trading it as part of my deal with Kaedesblade for an ATW mobo and 3 games (+ cash on my part, obviously!). I figure I will probably buy another one when Castlevania comes out, but I am not missing it right now. Not a bad system at all, the games that are available just don't grab me yet.

My store was located at Ken Caryl and Garrison. It was between Wadsworth and Kipling, about four miles south of the SW Plaza Mall. There was an Albertsons Grocery Store there but it moved about six months after I opened up.

Then EB put their new store up over by E470 and Kipling which was about two miles away from me. We still did pretty well because at that time, EB was not paying cash for games.

Regarding Game Central....that was a great game store. I knew Dave (the owner of Game Central) pretty well. I bought my import Dreamcast from him and he always carried a good deal of imports there. He offered me his inventory when he went out of business but at that point we were already looking at moving to MN.

We were actually doing okay, although Colorado is really saturated with game stores. My wife accepted a really good job up in MN and that is where her family is from, so we decided to move. I did a couple week blowout sale and we moved.

It was really interesting because right before that Christmas, Planet Games in the SW Plaza Mall closed, shortly after that Game Central Closed and then we closed. And....there are still thirty plus game stores out there :glee:

Anyway...I really could have used some customers like you.

Jro...please post some impressions of your PSP when you get it. I really want Hot Shot Golf bad but I am trying to hold out for the USA system.

Got my PSP today!

@Gameoz: I agree that there are probably too many game stores in Colorado. I lived in Loveland for a while, and when I realized that there were 3 (!!!) game stores in a city of old people, I thought, jeez, how many video game stores do you really need? Especially the Metro area. It seems like there's an EB or a Gamestop on every other corner, and then there are the cool "indies" (for lack of a better word) like your old store or GF Boulder. So you are running a store in MN, correct? How is the market up there? Less saturated, I would assume?

I got my PSP and games today! :buttrock: :buttrock: (One buttrocker was not enough in this instance). It works perfectly, no dead pixels. Came charged to 48%, per the norm, and was at 26% with 1:12 left after about one hour of play.

I played all four games. In the order that I played them:

Ridge Racers: looks great, plays like the old PS versions, very fun.
Vampire Chronicles: directionals take a little getting used to. Animation is VERY fast, but I think a few frames of animation are missing from the arcade versions. Plays GREAT once you get the directionals down.
Lumines: music is actually cool (headphones are a must). Simple yet challenging. Easily the most addicting game of all four, and it only cost me $40. I love it.
Minna No Golf: Graphics are a little bit worse than Hot Shots Fore, but still very good. Courses and effects look very nice. Plays just as well as HSF, and the putting is especially sharp. Played my first 18 at -3 and got a rank promotion. Lots of unlockables.

I'm quite happy with the purchase. Games are fun and the hardware is incredible, aside from being very fragile. I would recommend a purchase for some of the more reasonable prices I've seen on eBay, like this one from my same seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8156501710

Good deal, but not a value pack, for $360! My seller was top-notch, too.
