Ok, finally got my PSP today.

Charged the battery for 3 hours.

Prior to charging I tried to power on the unit with the battery installed but the wall charger hooked up. And nothing happens.

The power light comes on, it appears the screen is on because it has a slight light to it. But nothing happens.

When I place the RR disc in, you can hear the disc being scanned for a few seconds, and then nothing at all.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Is there an initial boot up time on this PSP? I left it with the power on for atleast 5min and still the same thing?

What gives?

Do I have a DOA PSP?

DAMN thing looks sexy though.

don t know... did you try to press the power switch a certain time ?
Like the PS2 it uses a sleep mode and not a ON/OFF... who knows maybe yours is stuck in sleep.

Did you try to eject your battery without the cord attached, and switch on to empty every bit of current stuckl in the capacitors and then to replug both the battery and the power cord ?

Anyway sounds deffective... hope you have a backup

I have tried just about everything, thats why I asked here if I was doing something wrong.

I have contacted the seller (about 5ming ago), just waiting for a response. Shit happens I guess. This is the first time I have personally had an issue with any electronic device I ever bought from anywhere.

And before the Sony haters chime in, Nintendo is not immune to defects.

So has your DS finally arrived to you? Otherwise, you can't turn it on for sure. If you have it, review please.

Yes as a matter of fact I have heard from him. Took about 30mins or so and he emailed me right away. It happened to be 2:30am his time, he had just got home. He and I chated via AOL instant messager for at least till 5am his time talking about what could be wrong, what he will do for me, me sending it back and that sorta stuff.

He was pretty upset to, stating he will do his very best to fix the problem. He is going to call Sony and find out what to do as getting a replacement PSP in Japan in a store is still hard to do because they are scarce. In any case I am sending the unit back tomorrow first thing and we'll go from there. It really is strange, because out of the six PSP's he sold I was the only one who asked him to check for bad pixels. He reported that there was none, and that his game "mina no Golf" played fine on it. He said that he had to set up the language and time in order to actually run the game on it first.

I have a good feeling that things will work out for the best, it just may take some time. It just sucks because I was hyped to play it and now I cant for awhile. But non the less he is a legit and genuine person and I hold him at no fault. Everything was packed perfectly so the shipping I dont think was an issue, just simply a defective item, it happens even thou this would be my first ever.

Good to hear that he is being such a decent guy about the whole thing. I recently won a PSP on eBay, and now I am getting pretty paranoid about the whole dead pixel issue, let alone the dead PSP issue. At least my seller has been very pleasant so far, and it seems that defective system stories have been rare to this point.

Good luck, Breach. I hope and believe that your patience will get rewarded.

Thanks, and as for your purchase, keep thinking positve. The PSP defect issues are pretty rare, just as the DS issues are rare. I have never once doubted defects exist. I personally have never had them. I have had good luck till now, so all I have left is that this will all be fixed in a positve manner.

I have Vampire Chronicle that should be in the mail today, and that is a bummer too. Oh well I have to wait a little longer.

I suppose it could be said that all this patience that you are being forced to have is building character, at least. But why is it that almost everything that builds character is a pain in the ass at the time? :make_fac:

You got me on that one?

I just wish I knew how to read Japanese, maybe I am doing something wrong?Maybe there is a reset button that will allow the thing to be rebooted or something?
I mean why would the thing appear to be booting up, such as scan the game disc when you fire it up and then nothing happens? When you turn the light off in the house, you can see that the screen is some what lit up and ready to go? Do I have to hit start or selct or home(which I have tried all of that)? It is just confusing that this thing worked fine and now nothing at all? If I could only read japanese I could read the troubleshooting tips to maybe fix the issue.

.Did everyone forget that he got this from Ebay ? If I am spending that much $$$, I rather be patient and wait until it hits US game stores... no problems getting a replacement etc.

Also, I don't see what the problem is... why... all these desperados thinking that this is a "common problem... for some reason they feel like they have a real case… we don’t even know how this device was treated before it reached BREACH444 hands.

Well I can actually say that the PSP was new out of the box. As for the PSP box, it was mint with no bashed in corners of any kind. As for the shipping box, it too was amazingly undamaged. And as for my sellers packing skills, flawless to say the least. The psp box was Christmas wrapped, then bubble wrapped, then additional square bubble wrap, along with 3x3inch x 2inch thick little boxes were attatched to the psp box on every flat surface. And then there were those airbags placed all around my psp box with addtional bubble wrap for the top and bottom of the box. Basically my entire psp was enclosed in a box of perfect protection. This guy was meticulous about his packing.
My seller said when he came home and read the email about my problem, he panicked because he thought he did everything perfectly. As matter of fact his 5 other feedbacks on Ebay (all PSP sales) stated the same, that it was a perfect transaction and their units worked flawlessly.
Prior to paying I emailed one of his buyers (his first actually at the time). And the buyer stated everything arrived flawlessly and worked. He stated that it was by far the best seller he has encountered yet. My seller even sent me (along with the other buyer) step by step pictures of the unit being wrapped and prepared for shipping along with the finished EMS shipping lable and being accepted by the Japan Post Office. At no point am I blaming my seller for any issues. I just hope that Sony owns up to their defective product and either replaces it or fixes it.
