Hey guys,
I just got my PSP value pack + Vampire Chronicle in the mail today (woot!), and I noticed something possibly wrong with my PSP. The thing is, Vampire Chronicle is a game that has a quick combo system, and I noticed that my "Square" button seems less responsive than my "Triangle", "Circle", and "X" buttons. The square button just doesn't seem as tight as the rest. Is this normal, or will I have to sell this thing off/send it in to Sony? :help:

check this out.

"The shiny surface of the system prevents your thumb from sliding smoothly when you're operating the digital d-pad, perhaps something that will be alleviated a little when the thing is slick from thumb grease. When sliding your thumb from any direction to the right direction button the control pad moves a bit, and there will be a noticable click as the button hits and then - when forced - clears the edge of the LCD screen inside the machine. Sony's desire to make the system look cool has sadly caused the system to be, essentially, broken. A similar situation is presented on the other side, with the square button. Have a look at this image (see here for the original), you can see how these two buttons are right on the edge - or indeed, far past the edge - of the LCD screen. Functionally this doesn't affect the square button, if I didn't know it was like this I'd never have noticed, but the d-pad issue is glaring. It's a disgusting problem, why it wasn't rectified is a question Sony should - but probably won't - answer"

not sure about respond issue though.

Man you are one paranoid fuck...

I don't know...

Judging by the "Major Production Problems with the DS" thread, you might have to send it to Sony...

So the PSP = crap battery and flawed hardware, but shiny graphics. DS= not the greatest graphics (so far), but its sturdy and well built?

Thanks for all the quick replies guys. I am actually very happy to hear this news. You can see in that guy's picture that the complete left half of the "Square" button is over metel and not the area where the button actually makes a connection, which completely answers my question. It's just that when I tap the square button on the left side (where I'm used to doing so), it seems less responsive. I just wanted to make sure that my system wasn't broken and every one else's was perfect. I can live with this, and am very happy with my PSP. BTW, Tonk's right, I am a whiny picky baby and my DS thread was pretty irrelevant.

Have a PSP with Vampire Chronicles and it was clunky at first but I got used to it and I don't seem to notice any responce probs anymore. Maybe, just spend more time with it.

The whole bit about showing fingerprints and scratching easily has me freaked out. I am sadly one of those freaks that obsesses over the cleanliness of my systems and handhelds. If a piece of dust settles on my DS screen, I have to immediately clean it. Maybe someone will release a clear PSP protective cover?

I have tried to keep it clean, it really is impossible.

Honestly, the PSP is wonderful, but the DS is way too solid for the PSP to handle.

DS > PSP
