I would say the 1C, but since the bios is surface mounted, a lot of people would have problems trying to add a socket so that they could install a UNI-BIOS.

The bios is also the non-commom 27C400 (57C4200), which is a different pinout than the 27C1024 (27C4096 or 27C4002) which all the other mvs and aes systems use. The 1C is also MONO, but theory has it that it can be easily modified with stereo.
The 1FZ has the horizontal slot and also a socketed bios so it's easy to swap out the bios.
Either one is going to be a tight fit for the video board, joystick ports, and a/v jacks. I think the project box I used on the back of the 1FZ that I just sold was a decent solution to give the jacks a good mounting base. If I hadn't already drilled the power jack, I probably would have put that on the back too.
If you're looking for simple and not worried about size, the 2 slot boards are the overall best as they already have joystick ports and a memory card reader.

I read a lot in there about what the UniBIOS fixes "while in Japan Region". Why be in Japan region at all??
I dont understand how UniBIOS 2 relates to Samurai Shodown V,
Japan region and blood. I thought the blood was only censored on the US AES version. Is it censored on the US MVS cart too? So are people playing in Japan region so they can see the blood? If so, then if you want to see the blood, you dont get to read the story as you play?
Are there any drawbacks to swapping the BIOS on the MV-1C?
This feels like the first time I used MAME.
