Sometimes I read one of the FAQs here and think of how great it would be to be more than text. In fact, I'm willing to make some myself. What I'm wondering is: would the site be updated with them? It doesn't look like the bulk of the site has changed in a while. Plus, right now the FAQ section is really just the same stuff that everyone else finds on GameFAQs or one of the hundreds of sites that just yank their stuff and call it their own.

I'm willing to help change this (and hopefully wouldn't be the only one), offering very complete HTML guides to one game at a time with the goal of helping this site anchor itself in the center of the Neo-Geo world. Pictures, arrow images for technique instructions, all that... it would make all the difference. I know that every time I come look at a FAQ, I wish that's what I was seeing.

So let me ask the question again: would the site be updated with them? I'd be the first to make one unless someone beats me to it.

Why don't you just create a sample or complete one and show everyone what this would look like? If this site does'nt host it, I'm sure someone else will.
I personally just grab the faq for printing out however nobdy is stopping you from taking things to the next level.

Neo-Geo Encyclopedia was about the closest thing to what you might be talking about but it died out or something happened where a lot of data was lost, etc. I would very much like to see a more MOOKish style online guide for Neo-Geo games. Something worthy of printing and putting together in a notebook with some clear sheet protectors, etc. to have as our very own Neo-Geo Bible.

Let's see what you have in mind and we'll go from there.

Well, it sounds like you want the same thing I do. I'm gonna start in the next couple days. I was just concerned that it looked like most of this site hasn't been updated in months, and I want that to change.

One question: how do the reviewers get their screenshots? Or do they only use preexisting ones?

You can Use a capture card, like any from the ATI All-In-Wonder cards, that will make suitable screencaptures/screenshots... This willl work for MVS games via phantom, AES Games, Supergun, and Consolized MVS output.

Also, it seems alot of sites like to use Emulation for Screenshots.

Bleah! I'm not the kinda guy who'd spend $230 to put some screenshots up, and I was hoping that (just ONCE!) a fun thread wouldn't turn into an argument over emulation. That's looking like the way it's going, though.

Edit: After some more looking, I found some options under $100, which is still more than I care to spend. Thing is, it's an MVS (in cabinet) that's in question. Will generic capture cards work in any way?

I know gohan submit a bunch of the newer kof ones to shawn. Ask gohan where he got them from? Roll your eyes and put your head in the sand but even shawn uses romz. He happens to own the games as well but that doesnt change where the shots come from cupcake.

just emu that shit and don't worry about it. i have no beef with using roms for screenshots and sprite rips. without a doubt emu does that job better.

keep this thread on track, it could have potential.
i know s-c.com was doing something similar with a guides section but honestly never check the site anymore to see if they ever went anywhere with the idea. might just go pay a visit right now...

Any faq with slick presentation will be printed and bindered by me to go next to my neo- so if you do it, you'll have at least one person who will use it. I'm sure others will too.

Neo Geo Encyclopedia isnt dead.

They came back and now all of their move lists and stuff are PDF's.

Well, it's now been a week since I sent in a little something for Mutation Nation, and no update. I have to assume this means there just won't be any more updates at all, and that's really a bad thing.
