Even with everything MAXED out (no wifi), it gets ~3hrs + with Ridge Racers... and ~6hrs with everything else.

The lest time it got was 2 3/4hrs with using wifi and every single thing maxed out.

Who plays a handheld with 100%vol anyways ? When I get mine, I mostly will using 1/2 brightness (and it's said to still look better than the DS screen by owners of both systems)... which would basically add on another 2yrs of game play.

here is a quotation from ign tests.

" Test 1 Hard Performance Test
GAME: Ridge Racers
SCREEN: Full brightness
AUDIO: Speakers, full volume
WIFI: OFF
UMD: Low use
MEMORY STICK: No use
FINAL RESULTS: 3 hours, 32 minutes

Test 2 Heavy UMD Gameplay Loading (Low Visual Intensity)
GAME: Darkstalkers Chronicle
SCREEN: Full brightness
AUDIO: Headphones, full volume
WIFI: OFF
UMD: Frequent
MEMORY STICK: No use
FINAL RESULTS: 5 hours, 9 minutes

Test 3 Sleep Mode Test
SCREEN: OFF (exect when out of Sleep mode - Full Brightness after Sleep)
AUDIO: OFF (exect when out of Sleep mode - Full Volume after Sleep)
WIFI: OFF
UMD: OFF (exect when out of Sleep mode - disc spins up for 1 minute approx. every hour)
MEMORY STICK: OFF
FINAL RESULTS: Negligible Battery Impact Over 24 hours (battery still at 86%)

Test 4 WiFi Multiplayer Test
GAME: Ridge Racers
SCREEN: Full brightness
AUDIO: Speakers, full volume
WIFI: On, Ad-Hoc Mode
UMD: Low Use
MEMORY STICK: No use
FINAL RESULTS: 2 hours, 46 minutes "

Not bed.
developers should get the hang of coding games so they can get more juice. at least I hope they will.
Sony should also make some 2000 MAH batteries for this thing.

Battery life deteriorates over time. I've had an ipod for about 18 months, and the battery has gone from lasting 6-7 hours to around 3 now. I'd expect the same from the 1st generation PSPs.

At least we don't have to send our units to Sony to get a replacement...

Oh snap!

I got 3hrs from the start. On two different units... I love the iPod don't you?

No matter what you guys say I'm not jumping on the psp bandwagon yet. Waiting til March. In the meantime I'm upgrading my pc and selling off my video card and monitor.

LMK if your interested in a pimped 9800 pro video card or a 15" lcd monitor.

I think it has been updated :)

MP3 playback : 10 hours 39 minutes.

my 512MB pro duo will have some use i guess (won t have to carry my HDD-based MP3 player).

And spare batteries are not all that excessive in price for the system.

All in all it will fit perfectly my maximum travel times in term of gaming
