None of my Playstations have ever had a problem. And my Jap PS2 is literally one of the first run PS2's off the line, and it works like a champ.

I got my ps1 at launch. It played pretty good for about a year or so then it kept giving me disc read errors more and more. Till the point where it wouldnt read anything. I figured it was the laser track or something so I flipped it over. It read the discs perfect after that. When I got my ps2 it started doing the same shit after 9 months or so of use. So I said fuck it and flipped that shit over as well. And it boots up discs like it was brand new. Gotta love Sony and there cd drives

The flash on mine stopped working after a week and the one I bought for my mother doesn't read its digitial memory cards.
Then again, that's entirely my fault for buying Sony after I've been fucked in the ass plenty of times before by all the PS1's and PS2's I had to go through (a total of four if you're interested... and the PS1 only works when you flip it upside-down.)
None of that matters though, because personal experiences don't mean too much, it's not until the experiences of the masses are gathered, then you'll see that Sony's products are less-than-well-made.

I have a sony md player for my car.It has a really crappy display that you can't turn off and if you try and play it loud for more than 5 minutes it will blow its fuse,oh and the tuner will work only when it wants.
Its not even worth spending any money on it to see whats wrong with it as its shite.

I have a 1994 Jap PSone which gives intermittent laser problems for the last 2 years. It is 10 years old though.
Apart from that I've never had a Sony product fail me. Although my 36" TV leaves alot to be desired in the geometry department. But its solid as a rock other than that.
