M'buddy in Japan won this for me the other day on Yahoo! Auctions Japan. I was going to wait until after I came back with it from my New Year's vacation in Japan (so I could write up how this little boardgame is actually played), but I just noticed that the auctioneer has a second copy of the game up for auction. So, I thought I'd post a link to the auction in case some of our members living in Japan might be interested in bidding on it:
LINK
Front Cover of the boardgame box:
Middle text block: The battle of 8 martial artists aiming to be the world's strongest has become a boardgame!!
Lower text block: [The] New Battle Game
Garou Densetsu 2's secondary title in Japanese is "Arata-naru tatakai" [The New Battle]. This text block utilizes that secondary title, but slaps the word "game" (in orange kana) at the end of it (this text block is repeated at the top of the 2nd pic) -- so it would appear that the proper name for this boardgame was "Garou Densetsu 2 ~Arata-naru tatakai~ Game" [Legend of the Hungry Wolf 2 ~The New Battle~ Game].
Back Cover of the boardgame box:
Text: Who will defeat the Emperor of Darkness, Wolfgang Krauser, and win "King of the Fighters," the martial arts tournament for those aiming to truly be the strongest in the world?
In this game, players become their favorite character and battle against other characters. Those who make it to the finals of "King of the Fighters" will fight the Emperor of Darkness, Wolfgang Krauser. The first to defeat Wolfgang Krauser and become the world's strongest martial arts champion wins the game.
(an instruction manual explaining how to play is included)
According to the auction, this boardgame originally retailed for 1500 yen (circa 1993, this would've been about $12.00).
