Well I just got into Neo Geo out of blatent curiosity and having it be an extremely expensive system, I had to make some weird twists and turns with systems and not using Roms.

Started with a JK Modded AES, came with 2 SS games and 2 controllers for $250, wanted good games without killing my wallet, mostly MS games and MOTW, later SS Games.

Tradded that for a Super Nova with a MV1 straight up, loved the controls but they were capcom layout, although still worked great, hated the poorer picture S-video quality compaired to the AES, Mono sound too. Wanted a pure RGB pic.

Traded that for a Full 2-slot cab, recapped the Monitor, then sold it for a lot of cash as I was moving and couldn't take it with me, miss the cheap games and the MOTW/SS4 arcade battles I had.

Now I am limping along on a CD system, ughhhh, its terrible but cheap. SS2 is very good on it, but the little hand contolers are terrible, loads are TERRIBLE.

One strange thing though, I have a 51 inch wide screan HDTV, when I plug in my S-video, the screan streatchs to fit perfectly automatically. It is not distored, just like it was made to fit, is this normal?

So I have owned every Neo Geo Medium, have to say the Cab was my favorite by far, what is yours?

How many Neo Geo Systems have you owned?

I have an MVS and an AES.
I have to say I love the MVS the most, because it's a pure arcade system. The AES has all those video issues (and mine's a late revision), while the MVS is pure and perfect RGB.
I really just got the AES for the controllers I got with it. I might sell it, but it's still one awesome system, so I might not.

Another point is that I'll probably never buy another game for the AES, because the MVS version is always cheaper.

I started with an AES back when I was a teenager (16) bought it with 10 carts used for $350 or so. This was close to 10 years ago. I didn't have internet back then, and had a very hard time finding new carts to buy. I ran across two others back them. I sold the AES in 1996 for $450 with the 12 carts, because I could not find any carts for it in my area..and being internetless back then it was pretty much impossible to do so.

Next I got a 1 slot MVS cab from a local arcade dealer about 2 and a half years ago for $350 with two MVS carts (Metal Slug & AOF3), after playing shitty Neo ports for years on Saturn, Ps1, Dreamcast, ect.

Well I didn't exactly like the MVS cause it took up alot of space, and was rather old with some screen burn, and general shittyness of quality in the picture on the 19" moniter.

Next I bought a Neo-Geo CD system about a year and a half ago. I like it..despite the loading times, and smaller sprites, its S-vid is truley beatiful. I built up a decent collection of games for it and played it alot more than my MVS, as to me it just looked better on my flatscreen 36" TV with S-vid than on my screen burnt 19' MVS.

I sold the MVS with 12 carts for $700 about 6 months ago.

About a month ago I came into some cash and decided to get back into the AES scene after all these years, becuase all the time I had the other Neo systems I always wished I would had never gotten rid of my old AES back in the day. So I recently bought a mega modded AES with UniBios 2.0 from JGN, along with 4 carts.
Since then I've increased my collection to include 11 carts, and I'm quite happy with my new AES.

So in short I too have owned all the mediums of Neo-Geo systems (except CDZ) and still currently have a NGCD and AES. I had thought about selling the NGCD, but luckily I came to my senses and realized its worth having just for the excellent soundtracks on so many games.

Well...thats my story..a bit long isn't it? And in the end I prefer my AES over any other Neo system I have owned.

So I started with a Modded AES
Super GUN with a MV1slot
MVS 2-slot Cab
Neo Geo CD
and NOW a consolized MVS\

I started with a Neo Geo CD. After waiting half of my life for Samurai Shodown 4 to load up, I sold it and bought an AES system. Sold the AES only 2 or 3 months after owning it, kicked myself in the ass for a few years. Got my second AES system from mystic_flame (I didnt deal on here with him, it was on gametz) and I had that for just a few months as well. I was going into the Army then, so I sold my AES system and all of my games (kicking myself in the ass again). When I got back, I got another AES system from a friend of mine, had it modded by JMKurtz, then I got rid of it cause I didnt have too many games for it, I have a hard time saving cash cause I spend way too much  I just bought a converted ( ) 2 slot on Ebay about a week and a half ago and I have bought about 20 games for it so far, remember I said I have a hard time saving cash. So dammit once you go Neo there is nothing else like it. Some of the ports on other systems are ok, but its nothing like playing the arcade version in your house :buttrock:

I started with MVS and have stuck with it. I bought a converted tabletop unit with a 1 slot in it with 12 games on ebay to start off. A couple of days later I found a candy cab on ebay that was perfect. I didn't care much for most of the games I had with the first deal so I sold many of them, plus I sold the tabletop with 2 games for what I spent on it with 12.

With that money I bought the candy cab, a 4 slot board, and a few carts I wanted. As of now my cart count is at about 20 I think, where it was around the 35 mark or so. Now I'm pretty much down to the ones I really want to keep and I've gotten rid of the "impulse" buys or ones I probably won't play much. The only titles left out there that I'd probably buy would be Slug 4 & 5 (again) and SSVS, especially SSVS.

I never considered AES and option, not because the price, but because I wanted a true arcade cabinet experience with my Neo. If I had just another system lying around it wouldn't feel the same.

AES is my favorite, the System's apparance just commands respect, it is so rare anc catches peopels attention even if they are not into Video games, but it is just not practical.

Damn I am just gona have to rob some guys AES colection :multi_co: .

I love teh AES games, art work, it so much detail given and the fact that games were made very recently and for other systems, Getting MS3 for XBOX, cannot wait.

I've experienced just about every Neo Geo format there is except, a CDZ and a Hyper Neo 64.

It all started back in 2001 when I got an AES system. The following summer I got another one along with a Neo Pocket. Finally, last year I grabbed my first ever Arcade Cab. It was a Midway/Bally conversion 2-slot MVS. It wasn't too bad. Just the Mono speakers sucked @$$.

Last year, I went ahead and grabbed a Consolized 2-slot. Very impressed with what it could do. I kind of miss it.

I briefly tried the Supergun/MVS 2-slot route, but didn't like the experience as much.

From there I grabbed another conversion Cab to play my 2-slot on. This time it was a Capcom Powerstone Cab. Has a very nice RGB output. Had a lot of KoF 98 and 2002/2003 battles on it.

Also decided to get a Neo CD this year just for the arrange soundtracks. KoF 94 sounds and plays a lot differently from it's MVS/AES counterpart. The music really enhances the experience, I think.

Finally, I sealed the deal and got an official MVS Mini 2-slot cab this year. This little guy is my pride and joy. Absolutely LOVE it. Hope we never part ways(we almost did).

Anyway, guess you could say I'm more of an MVS guy. Got to get a CDZ and Hyper Mobo one of these days.

started with a home cart system in 1993 and my first game was samurai shodown

paid the princely sum of £185 back then for it - seemed worth it

i've alweays had a neo in my life since then and i'm about to get out of it completely for the first time in 12 years

in my time i've own all the systems except a hotel unit

the cab was my favourite - but bootlegs just annoyed the shite out of me and i got out of MVS within a year

oh well everything comes to an end

M3h, I've never spent any real time with the NG64 or the NGPC - they just didn't seem to have the magic that attracted me to the Neo in the first place.

As a young teenager, I started out playing the MVS setup, and I had no chance of owning an AES at that age. This was in the early to mid-90's.

Sometime during late 2002, I realized that I still loved t3h Neo very much, and knew that AES system would be coming into my life very soon. I actually bought a few AES games before the system ever got here, and then picked up quite a few more games after it arrived.

I got into MVS by having a wonderful consolized 4-slot built by our very own supergoose79. Since it takes a while to build on of these, I had a good chance to pick up quite a few MVS titles while he was at work.

Later, I went to an auction and picked up a very nice 6-slot cab. It had a few cosmetic blemishes but all-in-all was in great shape. It's a total bitch to carry around, but I still love it.

I don't really see myself getting rid of any of this stuff right away, but if something had to go it'd probably be the AES carts and systems.

I don't mean to butt in, but I am originally from Florissant too! I moved to NYC after graduating from college. What highschool did you go to?

always wanted an AES growing up...couldn't afford it.
Got a MAS Supernova couple years ago to play Neo games legally :D
Got a Konami Windy cab and haven't stopped buying MVS since...plus added a Neo Candy to the mix as well. I like the AES a lot, but the cost and collectability keep me from getting into it. I like my shock boxes just fine.

I got into NeoGeo because I've been addicted to arcade games since I was a kid. My wife won a converted pacman cabinet on ebay and since I've upgraded to a 4 slot. Aes was never really an option for me, only because I am not a consol person, I hardly play any of my home system anymore compared to my arcade machines.

Had a NGPC many years ago when it was first released in the states, but I hated it. I far preferred the wonderswan [even in b+w]
