FORUM REARRANGEMENT? Discuss.

OK, I'm officially sick of reading about the PSP and DS now. I like the topics somewhat, but they are redundant and frequently digress into name calling.

So.

I have a few ideas about what to do with the forums as far as rearranging them (final decision to be OK'd by Shawn of course).

Combine the 24-bit, Hyper 64, and Pocket Color Forums into an "Other Neo Geo Systems" forum. To also include Neo CD as well, and Crystal system. This move would give better cross-system exposure for these and have more visitors overall. Hopefully breath a little life into these systems again.

Turn Handheld Systems into "Other Video Game Systems". This would consolidate the video game speak into one forum and throw the DS and PSP banter into a forum where they have to compete on the same footing as other current gen systems.

Or just return the forums to normal where Handheld Systems becomes Pocket Color once again and other handheld discussions are relegated to the Unrelated pile.

Discuss.

How bout we rename it www.sony-microsoft-nintendo.com and give up the illusion that the neo-geo is the focus of the site?

Not many people respect the current layout, so I'm not sure what effect if any this change would have.

The NGPC forum was fine the way it was.
I'll reserve my comments about what I think about the other STUFF aka as systems...

then make a mirror site /moc.oeg-oen//tth for everything off-topic.

I went for put all the other Neo systems in one forum, that should get way more traffic for that forum.

the first option as long as xbox and ps2 threads (and gc, etc, etc) dont get moved from unrelated to the "other systems forums".

i think that would spoil unrelated a bit and kill traffic in both unrelated and the new section....

Ditto - for the exact same reason.

Also, I think that there are probably too many different forums right now, and that most of them get little to no traffic. I definitely think that unrelated could be broken up so that it no longer involves gaming discussions.

There are too many forums which potentially contain the same discussions.

News & Rumors should go under general discussion. Yeah, that would make an even heavier loaded forum, but there's nothing wrong with that. It's easier to get an overview of few categorized forums than many with similar topics.

And instead of handhelds and Hyper 64, there should be one for "SNK platforms" (NGP+64(+AES+MVS+NCD)) and one for non-SNK platforms. Makes more sense to me than discussing PSP and NGPC in the same forum.
And the 24-bit forum seems sort of useless, since there's already a forum for gameplay and one for technics. Yeah, there ARE other discussions involving the neo geo (such as collector stuff), but that sort of fits in under general discussion or the above mentioned "SNK platforms".
EDIT: Actually you might rather drop "gameplay", and use the forum for either SNK or non-SNK platforms, since that should really go there instead.

I think you should create a SNK NEO GEO section with the following subsections:
AES
MVS
NGPC
Hyper64
Crystal System
Atomiswave

And have a separate section "Other Video Game Systems" with the following subsections:
Handhelds
Consoles

- move the DS/PSP/GBA topics back to unrelated.

- return the pocket forum

- remove the 24-Bit forum. all its topics can be covered in General Discussion or Tech forums.

A section for the Crystal System? What's the thought process behind that "Let's think of a section that could possibly get less traffic than Hyper64"

Personally, I think that the forums should back to the way were back in 2001....

And make TonK a mod... Whatever happened to Dolphin Lord and Bio?

Combine Hyper, pocket and 24 Bit into "other SNK systems", add a "general gaming" underneath unrelated.

I would actually get rid of Hyper, pocket and 24-bit and just have General Disccusion for Everything SNK.

I would like to see an open forum for "Arcade Related" including the Neo. I love my Neo collection, but there's ony so much to collect after that you need to buy other arcade related items to cure "the fever".

I honestly think that this community has evolved in a totally opposite direction than it was supposed to.

A lot of us have known each other for 4+ years now and have delevoped a sort of friendship here.

The Neo-Geo aspect has sort of been shunned out in favor of off topic material, like a coffee house for all of us.

Yeah, we still play and talk about the Neo-Geo, and this will always be the largest Neo-Geo site on the net.

But with no future releases planned, its time to move on to different discussions...The Atomiswave looks very promising.

Most of the news generated is because of new SNKP related games on other systems, homebrew titles, Atomiswave talk and the occasional "discovery"

I mean, I think we have covered all there is to cover about the Neo-Geo and its games.

I also say to get rid of the international forum, its pointless. This is an English speaking site, so the internation members should learn to adapt.

Do you see German based sites creating a forum for English speaking members?

I voted for the first option, but there might be pros and cons about that.

Also, the current moderation on this site is just fine. No more mods are needed.

I'm all for a change, and I'm happy this forum is constantly changing with the times.

Neo-Geo discussion is very limited...

He is correct.
Whats sadly interesting, is ever since the neo died, elitism has decreased like 80%All thats left is the people who are friends and who play games. This is the way it should always be.
When the market dies, it takes a chunk of greedy people with it who only want to profit off of other peoples love/interests.

Invest in atomiswave forum wise, its SNK's future at this point.
