The Magic Box posts rumors as news, so if they consider this a "rumor", it's just something someone just made up.

My guess is that it will be a price drop.

Doesn't matter to me though.

PSP>DS imho.

I'll wait until then to pick a DS up then as there's really nothing I want on it immediately as Metroid Prime: Hunters isn't out yet.

what is that opinion based on though?

and as far as an anouncement being 3 months away - its completly ridiculous. 3 months for some minor news, that's no fun at all. most 'revelations' are so underwhelming these days that it hurts. sega at E3 with their massive anouncement which turned out to be... what?

Normally I wouldn't respond because I don't want to turn this into a "dude yer system sucks and mine iz l33t" but I'm bored so here goes.

Hardware:

DS: Plays games with N64 style graphics. Also can play GBA games, single player.
PSP: Plays games with PS2 style graphics. Also can play DVD quality movies and CD quality music.

Advantage: PSP

Games:

DS: Consists of upgraded N64 ports, downgraded GC ports, 2D games, and quirky touch screen games. Very few games make good use of touch screen, the systems main selling point.

PSP: Consists of PS2 ports.

Advantage: Being a graphics whore and prefering games like Metal Gear and Ridge Racer to Sprung and Red Asphault I give the advantage to the PSP.

Battery Life:

DS: 10 hours

PSP: 4-6 depending on usage, battery life will increase in future according to Ken Kutaragi.

Advantage: DS

So there you have it. FOR ME, the PSP wins in 2 out of 3 catagories.

But you're neglecting some major points here.
The DS already has an enormous library since it includes GBA games. No, you don't need to buy a DS to play those, but this is akin to the backwards compatibility that gave the PS2 such a huge leap in the marketplace. Further evidence of total library size and also launch date (relative to the competition) being the biggest factors is the PS2's place as "top" console. It sucks technologically compared to the 'Cube and XBox, but it was out first and had the entire PS1 library available. Quantity over quality.

In the initial batch of DS games, yes, the number that make good use of the touch capabilities is few (Feel the Magic being the only major title that benefits, and it is awesome with the touch screen). But I'd say that the second screen is a big benefit in some of the other games already like Ridge Racer and Mario where it is an nice control option. And in Mr. Driller where it is nice for viewing more play area.

But if you look only a short distance down the road, there are some truly awesome DS titles coming that will make great use of the touch screen. The RPGs are a natural fit, WarioWare, Animal Crossing, Advance Wars, etc.

I'm looking forward to the PSP for the "prettiness" factor and the coolness of console gaming in my hand, but for innovation and gameplay, you definitely won't beat the DS. Nintendo has been the clear leader in those fields for years and that won't change here. Yeah, yeah, Metal Gear this, and Darkstalkers that, blah, blah. But whatever. Here's looking forward to the first Final Fantasy on the DS with card-based play on the touch screen.

I guess it just comes down to games, and right now the DS just doesn't do it for me.

This will most likely change in the future though.

Please note if a 2D Castlevania is released for the DS I'll be on it like a hobo on a box of wine.

not really ps2 style graphics more ps1.5 and it plays dvd style movies on umd discs which means you ahve to buy them again on the new style of disc with will probably cost more than the dvd

Big announcement: Nintendo rapes their fans yet again with an "upgraded" DS/SP handheld, in which they dump the useless second screen, make the single screen larger, improve the lousy dpad and buttons, and add a useful analog control . . . :tickled:

Whoops, it still would only run N64-quality ports or rehashes, DOH! :kekeke:

Big announcement: Chimpmolester opens his yap yet again to blurt out more verbal diarrhoea. His fanatical hatred of Nintendo just keeps showing him up to be a useless retarded fuckwart who seems to be the mod of his own little world inhabited with likewise chickenbrained simpletons

Whoops, I can see what the cretin writes but it has as absolutely no basis in reality or fact, just blatant hatred for the sake of it.Try getting out a bit more........or is it difficult to walk around with your head up your anus? :kekeke:

Anyway, who would have believed that chimpmolester would have popped up with more banal crap as soon as anyone mentions a Nintendo system again.

So,who cares if the PSP has an analogue stick?Sony sticks last for about 6 months with regular play whereas d-pads seem to last for 20 years(upto yet anyway). So as well as lost pixels,a battery that last as long as it takes a game to load and the overall potential build quality of a yugoslavian car,can you tell us any reason why we should get a PSP?

imho (which nobody cares about, but i don t care :)), what matters for me is games.

i can accept a game beeing less beautifull than other platforms' ones as long as it is entertaining (I played Gargoyle's Quest today btw on a dusty GB -the full sized one-)

Based on games the DS does not attract me.
Even with its value-added version, i simply don t want to play mario 64 again.
Same for wario ware.
I would not play Ridge Racers as i could have something new in ridge racers on PSP.
Sprung seems verry subpar compared to other dating games i ve played.
Picto Chat... ahahahaha
Ping Pals... ahahahaha*2
Mister Driller: i just don t like the game... it s not a bad one in spirit, but i just dont like it (i was neither a digdug/digdug2 nor boulder dash fan)
The Urbz: Sims in the City: no thanks.
Spider-Man 2: looks decent, but not a killer game i d buy a system for
Feel the Magic: XY/XX: warioware ripoff with design i hate
Asphalt: Urban GT: looks like a sub-par racing game with verry little lasting appeal
Madden NFL 2005: the only american football game i can play is football frenzy
Pokemon Dash: no, really ... :)

As you can see, the DS is simply not a system for me for now :) maybe later if a fantastic 2D game arrives (maybe that would be yoshi or super princess pink peach).

If you're implying warioware DS is just like Wrio Ware GBA, you're wrong.

If you just don't like Wario Ware at all, you're even more wrong.

i know i know, don t worry :) it s a bit like if i OD-ed with it.
The fast, adrenaline-filling, one over the other continuously was verry fun at first on the GBA but after some time i just got disgusted :I maybe in some years, but that kind of minigames-package is not for me in a near future anymore

Basically it sounds like you don't like any game ever made. Or at least any genre. Oh, maybe racing games.
I think games like MGS, Halo, and all the first person crap suck. Not very interesting to me in the least since they are all basically the same game with moderately different plots. Color me crazy, but I like variety and different types of gameplay.

Honestly, what would make you buy a DS? If it were a PSP?
