With just 2 more days to go until the lucky Japanese people get the play the PSP... how comes Sony is holding out on giving US gamers a launch date?

From what I have heard so far, IGN knows something about this and said that Sony is expected to release some "exciting" news right after the new year involving the US launch date and prices... well... if those inside guys think it's "exciting," it's probably good.

Even though Sony stated that America should expect a launch no later than in March.... I am started to actually believe it may be before march... like mid to late Feb.

Why else would they state to release the PSP in the US, UK and Korea so close to each other? (UK should get it in late march or sometime around spring and Korea is expected to get it march)... and I knew US is next in line after Japan.

Also, look on http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/groups/psp/

If you have been checking this site regularly like me, you should have noticed that EB has slowly been moving the "estimated time of arrival" for the games closer to February... initially I think it started April or so... then it creped to March, and now it's in feb... so that has to be a good sign.

What do you guys think about this? Everything I have been search and hearing leads me to believe that we may get our PSPs earlier than expected.

Probably because sony thinks they dont have enough "american" games for the launch. And also cause they are having problems in production.

no. it's because they announced their system prematurely.
they wouldn't have any systems to sell and they need to produce
some more product before they can even think of launching a system.
I'm still waiting for my eb's to get restock of ds systems since it's initial launch.
think about how the psp will be.

There are no problems in production, it is simply a respectful way to not screw over potential stock holders.

That's why NOW is the time to preorder. If you are in the first 10 group of people to do so, you will most likely get a system. I'm a little disappointed at having to wait so much longer than Japan, but that's nothing new with Sony is it? At least I'll have the DS to tide me over until then.

I was the first one to pay off and pre-order a PSP at my EB, it will be set aside for me to pick up.
