PS2 standby (shutdown) question?

When you shut down your ps2 you hold down the top button (green led) for a couple of seconds and it shuts off. I have to hold it down now for 5-10 seconds now. Does this means my PS2 is going to crap out soon, as far as this function is concerned? Has or does this happen to anyone else? Thanks

By the way I have the model that was released the first day/week.

If you have the network adapter installed, it's normal (parking the HDD). But 10 seconds is too much even in that circunstances.

I just installed a Network Adapter last week, and haven't really had time to use my PS2, until last night. I hope it's just the adapter! Thanks again!

No problem, a friend of mine had experienced it since he had the NA installed. I'm (and him) pretty sure that it's from the NA, since it's do the brigde to the HDD access. Pretty lame that it doesn't test if there's a HDD installed in first place. :oh_no:

Mine took along time when I had only the Network adapter installed, but with the HDD it is faster.

Well, maybe I'm wrong, it must take a longer time with only the NA, cause it keeps probing the HDD, who knows :confused:

That's what I was thinking, but it seems pretty dumb. But oh well. Maybe it's a marketing strategy for the HDD. Since it is pretty useless, buy it to speed up you shutdown time!
