The PSP's UMDs can hold up to 1.8Gb
The DS's carts can hold up to 128Mb

How do you know the PSP is fragile? Which are all those moving parts?

The UMD door is not really that fragile, it is just like a MD door.

Mike, The PSP does not appear to be to fragile internaly and extrenaly it's build quality puts that of the DS's to shame. The (entire) front of the PSP is made of an extremily scratch resistant plastic that can with stand a shit load more use and abuse that the DS. Not to metion the DS's shity silver paint job that scraches easily.
I'm not biased in any way but facts are facts.

Plus sony removed the sliding doors on the UMD format (that MD's have always had so they could eliminate the moving parts required in the hardware to pull it back.

You failed to mention that the PSP can play video off of the memory sticks as well as certain programs (so expect emulators for this handheld in the future).

Also, how do you know that PSP games will cost more... and if so, by how much? $5-$10 probably... sounds like it's gona be an issue right? Also... you could have been more detailed... because you did not mention that the PSP is only ~$30 more than the DS... I think that's insignificant, especially when you think about the fact that the PSP is more than a gamming machine.

The DS has "great" 3rd party support by like how much more companies... 1 more additional over PSP? Very significant... so if PSP has 1 less 3rd party support, that makes it only "good" comparing to how you describe the DS, as "great."

Forgot you mention that not only are the DS screens smaller... but they are obviously lower in quality... so it's not as sharp... failed to add that the PSP has ~2 times more resolution through it's screen.

Yup... any one with an objective view can read between the lines here and see that this post is biased. Not because you love the DS or anything... nothing wrong with that... this post is biased because you surely could have added more pros to the PSP (resolution, screen quality and brightness, game size, multi functionality through playing videos, pictures, certain programs etc)

I could care less about PSP vs DS vs other… at lest now I have a choice to pick what system is more appealing… much better than only having no choice… which would suck ass for the sensible consumer.

So when the PSP displays are in stores and I smash the screen are you gonna walk in and say how it looks like a crack whore?

Hundreds of people were playing it, nobody cleans the systems.

And the stylus WILL NOT scratch the screen... so I'm guessing keys were being used on the mentioned systems.

You guys compared store displays... LOL how fucking lame!

how much do you think the PSP cost to manufacture? must have been alot which is funny because this amount of quality for so little money is a bit off putting
icon10.gif
I mean must have been as expensive as producing something of the ilk of a home console.
It does show how much competition can affect pricing.

I don't know why Sony can't focus on a game console instead of adding gay ass features that won't be used.

And emulators will not be possible.

It doesnt have an OS like the Zodiac or that other thing have.

simply because they are trying to broaden the appeal of their system to non gamers, as has been their stratergy since they begun making systems. That way they don't have to compete for market share of the existing consumer pool. and Sony want to be as ultra cool gadgety and camp as possible.
its a fashion accesory you wear around your neck.

Potentially, yes, as long as you can run an application, you should be able to run an emulator as well, and games are applications.

Word.

CAR, you need to learn the fine art of shutting the fuck up. You do nothing but put your jeded, bias fanboy ass on the line and get it kicked.
The fact that this is coming from me, some oe who prefers the PSP to DS says enough.

As someone who fully expects to own both eventually, I thought Tonk's original list was pretty fair, myself. I would say, though, that the DS does have moving parts: it has a hinge.

In the end, though, it doesn't matter how good the device is. Only the games matter. I can think of numerous cases where weaker hardware has had better software, and where better hardware has died due to lack of support.

Does the GBA have an OS too ? Because the GBA is known to emulate NES games... through using a flash type cart that can hold the romz.
