I don't know what everyone's problem is...

I played mario DS

This SYSTEM IS PIMP......

The graphics are sharp and colorfull. This is even though I could not adjust the angle (bolted into the kiosk) and the scfeen was full of human grease.

The touch screen is not a gimmick.

Not only is it great for controll, but how many times in a game (especialy handheld), have you had to swtich beteen the main screen and subscreen to look at the map or change items. This is great!

It reminds me of what could have been done with the VMU on the Dreamcast. Every console should have a screen built into the controller.

After 5 minutes, it becomes apearent that two small screens are in deed better than one big screen.

Its a great system, I really don't see everyones gripe with it.

It has more 3rd party support than the PSP.

And overall its FUN!

I'm actualy thinking about getting one... THo I dont' think I would be able to play it much. Nintendo is genious.

This is not a VBOY!

I think the system is truly revolutionary....

Awaits Chumpmong to come in spilling his venomous, biased bilious rubbish and try to put the DS down AGAIN.

Probably whilst he's rubbing one out whilst looking at a pic of the PSP while riding his sabian equipped rombox.

This is your opinion... I am gona wait and see how the GBA2 looks like, cause I don't feel like the DS is something that's a "must have."

DS is still young...you can like or dislike it, and it doesn't mean anything yet. What I can't believe is his out and out hatred for GB/GBA, which I feel is one of the greatest systems ever released, never mind being the greatest handheld. I figure he must have paws like a rhino, and maybe no oposable thumbs, in order to account for his hatred.

Just a theory. Not based on known fact.

Originally I intended to skip the DS, and go with a cheaper GBA SP or a GBA Player so I could play titles like Metal Slug Advance or Final Fantasy I&II. After playing the DS demo unit at EB hands on, I was very impressed. The screenshots don't really do it justice, games like Mario 64 and Metroid Prime Hunters look way better in action.

So that pretty much sold me on the system. For $70 more I can play both GBA titles and DS titles, not a bad deal. My biggest concern with the DS though, is the lineup of games on the way, or the lack of a lineup. Browsing EB's DS section on their site does not inspire confidence in my opinion, some of the best looking titles are listed as Q3 or Q4 of 2005, and that's not good.

Hopefully this thing will sell well enough to jar some third parties into action. While the Nintendo releases are usually great, they may not be enough to sustain someone like me who buys more than one game every three months.

Right now on my Christmas list is a GBA SP and Pokemon Fire Red. I was planning on getting a Slim PS2, but I probably won't be able to find one when I get paid. I wouldn't mind having a DS because I never liked the SP's screen and I hear the DS's is better. The only problem is I don't want to pay $150 for a gba player. I literally could not play Metriod because of the touch screen. Maybe the stumb strap would work better, but it was a freaking pain with the stylus. I would rather have had analog control. It could be because I'm right handed and find everything hard to do with my left hand though.

So far I'm definitely liking the DS, although Nintendo's got to get some more titles out. The only game that interests me (besides the Metroid demo) is Mario 64 DS. Ridge Racer looks cool, but from what I hear it's a port of RR64. :(

Yes the thumb strap works better. You can change the controls from left to right. So that strafing and moving forward and back is done with the buttons instead of the dpad.

And yeah Nintendo really droped the ball with only having mario 64 on launch.

The MPH has 5 control setups, 3 (the default is equally good for lefties and righties) and two other modes, with a left and right version. Pretty much no matter which hand you use you should be fine.

Also you can actually use your thumb just fine if you don't mind getting a little grease on your screen. I may pick up a screen protector and abandon the thumb stylus entirely, but so far I've hardly worried aboiut suing my thumb on it (except for feel the Magic which was created pretty much with the stylus in mind)

this is dead set... man... this is a tight system.

The graphics are pretty slick... especially for a handheld.

But you know what... IMO graphics doesn't make the games..... so lets go to Gameplay.... I thought the controls were going to suck... they are SURPRISINGLY good .... tight... and perfect to use.

I cannot wait for these next titles for the DS coming out. There is a WHOLE mass of games coming out at the time of the PSP launch.

I just wonder how the mainstream and other crowds are going to view the PSP vs DS. Nintendo has another solid product. I admit, I was really really worried for a bit. But try this thing out and see how slick it is.

Even Asphalt GT and Ridge Racer DS are pretty cool. Ridge Racer DS looks A LLLLOOOOOTTT better than in the pics/movies and does it EVER play like an RR game :)

FYI.. one of the coolest features is that you can have 1 DS game and 1 GBA game in at the same time. 2 games, 1 system... and that should be enough to tide you over for awhile :)

You got RR DS in? Is it exactly like Ridge Racer 64? Make sure one of those has my name on it.

unfortunately, I don't have them in, I was just priveleged to be able to check it out "early" they shall be in soon though :) Street date (12-8-04)... and I don't think they can be sold early.

but the game looks a lot better than the stills show. Same thing with Asphalt GT. Man... the stills loooked UGLY. I tell you want asphalt GT runs at about 60 frames/ second I believe.

RR on the DS is pretty close thte RR64 I believe. Its been awhile since I checked it out on the 64... but I think it is a "port" of the game. I think there are some extras..etc.

Wireless Multiplayer - up to 6 players.
20 GP races
32 available/unlockable vehicles
Cartridge save (three slots)
Multiplayer support (six players, single/multi card)
Source: ds.ign.com

I am glad that the DS is cart based though. Something about handheld systems and stamp sized carts... its pretty cool.

something I seriously cannot wait for is animal crossing DS. That game is the most addictive game (on the Gamecube ) I have put my hands on since Diablo 1 for the PC.

Animal crossing could benifit substatialy from the touch screen/stylus.... When you think about it, there are so many possibilites for the two screens. I think that it has the potential to be the greatest thing to happen to gamming since the Zilog-80... If not it's the greatest thing to happen since 3D....

Faux controll analog, quick weapon changes, adding 10-15 buttons, Maps/Menus available without pausing, Multiple views........ So much is possible....

The Mario game is great for rhis system but I was playing the Metroid demo and I hate the controls. I think the stylus pen sucks for it. Also my friend is buying a DS and he said he would let me borrow it if I want so Ill just borrow his unless something great comes out. I heard Final Fantasy 3 and Sword of mana are coming out for it and if they do im gonna pick up a DS.
