Had a package show up in the mail today, and I thought it was kinda weird. It was an Amazon shipping label in a crappy padded mailer. I thought something was fishy so I was careful opening the package up. When I open it, I can see it's a DVD and I see the name sticker on it... Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary Edition.

My first reaction was, "fuck this, I didn't order this crap!" Then I take the DVD out of the mailer and see instead of an invoice, a letter from Amazon. They sent me an advance copy (MP comes out Dec 14) because I'm a "great customer and have written several reviews" on their site.

So it's cool that they sent me something free, but the problem is... it's fucking Mary Poppins!

Anyone else get this DVD from Amazon? Anyone else ever even write reviews for Amazon?

Put it on ebay, maybe someone will pay lots of money to get it early. They pay stupid money to get other stuff just days early.

You could just take it to a Borders, say it was a gift and exchange it for something you want. I do stuff like that all the time.

I use to get a shitload of free stuff from Amazon. I signed up on a site called Jaboom wich had to do with music and you rate the songs and collect points. You had to rate good though. I did and then you use the points to buy amazon stuff. They only allowed DVD, VHS, CD's...etc. Stuff like that...but it was awesome and all for free. This was back in 2001. Since then...Iam not sure on what happened to the site but never found out. I need more free merchandise. That sure was good memories.

Man, I should start writing reviews on Amazon. Does it matter if you've never bought it from them? I've been a member for a year, and to this day I've only bought one thing (and that was because I couldn't find it at any sotres).

I only buy from Amazon when I can't find something anywhere else. I also haven't written a review for them in over 2 years. So I'd say that as long as you bought from them, and had written a review or 2 you could have potentially gotten this free DVD. It's only happened this one time though, so it's not like it happens all the time.

How much do you want for the DVD? My wife likes Mary Poppins... :)
