I have been thinking about this for a while and once I saw the game art thread I was reminded about it.
So, lets start seeing some folks thoughts on games that lost that special "feeling" once ported to other and perhaps more powerful hardware.
The original version of Need for Speed. This game was fabolous on the 3DO but once it was ported to the Saturn and the PSX it didn't seem to be nearly as fun. This came out in late 94 or early 95 and I picked it up as soon as it was available. I bought my 3DO in the fall of 94 after it dropped in price to an "affordable" $400.
My college roommate and I played this fucker for hours on end trying to get the best track times. Of course then in March 95 a friend brought over both an import PSX with Ridge Racer and a imported Saturn and a host of other games and the 3DO starting showing its lacking horsepower.
But, for whatever reason, the PSX and Saturn versions of The Need for Speed that later followed never seemed to be quite as fun as the original 3DO version.
