OMG, the name just hit on the head and I remember pounding out combos on that magnificent fighting game. I did really enjoy the first game but the sequel sucked ass, and I guess that's the reason why it died. It could of had a great run if the KI2 wasn't a piece of shit. I remember playing with Spinal and Fulgore, ah good old times.

I actually liked playing as Chief Thunder.

I want to try to get the arcade PCB/hard drive at some point for my super gun fun, but don't feel like spending the money at the moment.

KI Gold on the N64 was pretty fun as well. Loved playing as Maya on that one, since the fuckers dropped Thunder from the line up. (probably 'cause most people hated him)

wtf? Who were the EEDiots that didn't like Thunder? Every character in that game ruled. I loved KI, but KI2 kinda sucked in comparison.

Fulgore, Jago, and Cinder were my favorites to use, but I finally got really good with all of the characters.

As always, I loved the boxer. Don't know what it is about boxers in fighters, but I like to play as them. TJ Combo was a pimp.

I don't particularly miss the series.
Never liked the first one in the arcades and the N64 sequel was a fun diversion but got old fast and the crap stock N64 controller ruined the game.

Just reading this thread makes me miss my PCB's. :crying:

I can't believe I used to play these fighters with only three punch buttons, since I didn't wire the other buttons. Still kicked everyone's @$$!

Anyway, I'm going to hunt these down again one day.

Gotta love the voice overs in the first one.

I had a little bit of fun playing the N64 version, and I enjoyed watching 5 gajillion hit combos being performed on some poor bastard on the arcade version, but that's about it. It was a pretty solid fighter, but I thought the characters seemed sort of generic and I never really got into them.

So no, I don't really miss it all that much, but I wouldn't mind seeing a KI 3 pop up. :)

It was an okay game. The combo attacks got to be a little rediculous on it so the first move I learned on the game: C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!! :buttrock:

Can't say I miss the series at all. I thought the original was a POS when it came out, didn't think too much more of the sequel, but I did play the N64 version quite a bit early on, simply because there were no other fighters to be had. I always liked the Janet Jackson looking chick {Orchid if I remember correctly} and Jago the ninja, the rest I thought were freckin' wastes of coding. With the MK series having already infected the minds of ppl at the time, Capcom's SF II boom and SNK's Fatal Fury and AOF games, to me it was just a let down generic series. In fact I'd rather play Marital Champions over Killer Instinct.

Actually, at the time there much of any other genre on the N64 either. If I remember correctly by X-Mas of '96 there was SM64, Pilotwings, MK Trilogy and KI Gold. I'm sure there was something else out there, but I can't remember what. Thanks Nintendo for the Dream Team. (Acclaim being put into bankruptcy is fitting for the Dream Team. To a certain extent as far as more sequals go, but life goes on.

I miss it. It was most definitely my favorite fighting game of all time. I spent hours of my life playing that in my dorm room with my room mates. KI2 wasn't that great, Tusk was ok, but KI was the money shot.

I could sit here for hours talking about it.. there's so much shit in that game that I don't think I'll ever learn it all. Missed Ultras, shadow combos, broken combos... just soo freaking deep.

It's depressing it doesn't get the respect as a good fighter that it deserves. A lot of people dis it because of the rendered graphics. I'd take it against 70% of the Neo library and it'd be the superior fighter.

Long live KI!

I also remember from the first game that you had to hit the opponent or do a fatality or else that loud siren would go off and scare you.

In part 2, I remember this guy tried to beat the last guy with Orchid and it took him $20 before he realized that he had to knock him into the air in order to beat him.

Ah. I remember KI. I remember the awesome voiceover. Those were the days. I remember my friend dakingofzumda used to have the PCB and we would play this all night. He would beat my anus with only the 3 punch buttons, but it was fun. They should remake it for the GameCube or something because I miss it a lot. I still have the N64 version that I play every now and then. I think I'm going to cry. Anyways I will find the boards again for my friend. Till then "Eat It".

I have fond memories of Killer Instinct. I remember losing hours upon hours of my life to this game. Cheif Thunder was my favorite character. I loved how after you performed an Ultra Combo he would chant an Indian Theme.

"ENYA, ENYA, ENYA, HEY, HEY, HEY!!!" -Chief Thunder after excuting an Ultra Combo. Random sound effects, I believe. :buttrock:

I also like how loud the game would get after you execute Fulgore's, Danger Move, with the head formation into a Gun Blaster.

Everytime I would hear that sound effect in the Arcade back in 94, I would immediately say in my mind, "someone just got blasted." That being said from the other side of the Arcade, while playing SSF2 or MKII.

Killer Instinct was sweet. I loved using Fulgore but there were no bad characters in it all of them were great to play as. The voice over ruled. I loved the secret fighting area in the sky that was cool.

I loved the first Killer Instinct, the combos were already scripted, but it was a great game - I didn't like the second one though, they added too many worthless gameplay elements.

I was mainly an Orchid player, she was relatively broken.

Seeing a new Killer Instinct game would be great, but it would HAVE to deliver real-time 3D graphics on par with the pre-rendered ones it offered in the past, otherwise it wouldn't work.

Oh, and 2D gameplay.

I was a cinder player, 80 hit ultra combo? yes please.

anyone remember the shrunken character bug.

most of the cool features were bugs I guess.

I wouldn't say I miss it at all though.

a great game at the time, and very fresh considering we had nothing but 2d fighters at the time.

Why wouldn't that be possible?

Haha, this was like the only time I owned every game for any system.
