This final is being celebrated in Sevilla, Spain.

The Spanish number 1 Moya has beaten the US number 2 Fish. Now they are going to play Roddick-Nadal, with Roddick as the favorite. Today's matches of number 1's versus number 2's are not very fun unless there are surprises, so all will be deiced in the doubles and the fairer individual matches.

Who do you think will win? The clay surface and playing at home gives some advantage to Spain, and it is a very close final.

EDIT: Nadal has finished winning too, so now it is 2-0 :buttrock:

EDIT: USA won the doubles, so now it is 2-1 :envy:

EDIT: Moya has beaten Roddick, so Spain won. :multi_co:

EDIT: They've actually played the pointless 5th match and Fish has beaten Robredo. Final score: 3-2

I think it's pretty common knowledge that the Spaniards generally pwn on clay. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them put a whipping on us.

Put 'em on grass or hardcourts though, and you'll get a totally different story.

Well, that's the fun of the Davis Cup, each country plays alternatively at home. For example, Spain won the final in 2000 here in Barcelona (clay) against Australia, but got pwned in Australia last year in grass.

They are now in the tie-break of the first set, Nadal is putting a fierce resistance. At first I was surprised Nadal was playing instead of Ferrero, and he has to play doubles too...

I don't even know any of the names of the U.S. tennis players anymore. We need another John McEnroe

True - Roddick is very talented, but he just doesn't seem to be cool enough under pressure. Federer, on the other hand, is so talented (both mentally and physically) that it's almost boring to watch sometimes as he's so dominatnt. He's the only one out there right now that could become the next Pete.

Well, McEnroe himself is the coach of the USA team.

As expected, USA has pwned the doubles. After yesterday's success, look like the Spanish team decided to give away this point by reserving Nadal for tomorrow's individual match and putting Ferrero in the double instead of him.

Spain has won the final 3-1, as Moya has won his match against Roddick. I don't think they'll play the 5th match.

Spaniards are the best Tennis players of Europe IMO.

Period.

Both men and women.

But as Galfordo said ( and well ) , out of Clay it's a diferent story.

Yes, I agree that outside clay the Spanish players lose a lot of potential. If this final had been played in USA the result would have been very different.

YES!

Moya won!

But now I wonder, where's Kafelnikov? Did he retire?

Yarrr ... I haven't seen or heart much of him lately either. I always thought he was extremely talented, and never quite lived up to his potential. Oh well.

They also played the pointless 5th match, and Fish (known in Sevilla as "El Pescaílla") has beaten Robredo, so the final score is 3-2.
