Hope this hasn't already been posted. The cats finally out of the bag Bonds admitted he used steroids. I turned on ESPN News on my tv to see the cavs highlights and I see this. To be honest I don't know how people couldn't see this I mean come on he's dropping 70 bombs a year at 40. It's a shame too because before this he was a first ballot hall of famer for sure :oh_no: I used to like hime when he was on PIT and even his early SF years. Truly a bad day for baseball.

Pull his record. If Pete Rose can't get into the Hall of Fame on something as asinine as gambling, Bonds' record doesn't deserve to stand because substance abuse was invovled and most likely affected his performance.

Not really surprising if you follow his career. He is peaking in his late 30's, makes perfect sense.

2001 is when he supposedly started using them.

Although he could have achieved similar results on a BoFlex, check these out:
1992
1994
1998
2002
2004

The thing is, some people do get better with age. He's always been a great all-around ball player, but since 2000-2001, he's become one of the greatest hitters of all-time. He was racking up the honours before he allegedly began usage of these products.
He seems to be pretty large starting around 1998-1999, but especially in 2000 and 2001, though. Since it has been more of a gradual change, it wasn't as shocking as the one Jason Giambi went through:
1991
1996
First game as a Yankee

I'm the only person I think that doesn't really give a shit. While roids may help you hit for power, it doesn't help you make contact. Bonds hits for ultra high average, and he's awesome with roids or without.

Put an asterisk besides his records. It wasn't illegal to use steroids in MLB until 2004 I thought, so what can they really do?

Offensive players aren't the only ones out there trying to gain advantage. Pitchers do it too, I remember Julian Tavarez got 8 games suspension for putting pine tar on the ball...thats straight out cheating. Roids just doesn't bother me as much as other cheating tactics like scuffing the ball, and corking a bat.

it should be mandatory for every baseball player to use steroids, it would make the game much more interesting - taco clemente

They were creams and oils, Bonds didn't inject himself with hormones like Giambi did.

Bonds - asterisk the records
Giambi - ban from baseball

Which is why Giambi has much sexier hips and man tits than Bonds.

I'm so sick of every time they talk about Bonds they show that clip of him licking his bat. What the hell is that about?

Also, I'm a huge Yankee fan and I always disliked Giambi. Anybody who watches the games on a regular basis knows that they play a HUGE shift on him and he still does nothing but ground out to first. I officially renamed him (first name, middle name, last name) Groundout To First. Now that I know he was juiced, it is even more unacceptable.

Big f'n surprise. The only thing shocking about this is that he says that he didn't use growth hormones.

Haha. "The Cream" and "The Clear". Riiight. You believe that? If so, you sir, are an idiot.

Grand jury transcripts show that Bonds testified that he took BALCO's "clear" and "cream," but didn't know they were steroids.

The second part is absurd, but the first part is now undeniable: Barry Bonds took apart baseball's record book while using steroids. And, given that his trainer, Greg Anderson, was caught with growth hormone, you can bet Bonds took that, too, among the myriad of other drugs.

"I'm black, and I'm keeping my money"

Some fun details from the article:

"Prosecutors confronted Bonds with documents dating to his record-setting season of 2001 that allegedly detailed his use of many drugs, including human growth hormone, steroids and insulin. He said he believed he only used legal products to treat arthritis and fatigue.

"Bonds danced around questions, saying he couldn't explain a calendar with the name 'Barry' on it; he had never seen a bottle that says Depo-Testosterone; he had never heard of the drugs Clomid, modafinil and trenbolone; and he couldn't pronounce EPO.

"Bonds testified that he didn't think any of the substances worked but kept using them out of loyalty to Anderson. He also said he never consulted with the Giants about what Anderson gave him.

"'No way ... we don't trust the ball team,' Bonds said. 'We don't trust baseball. ... Believe me, it's a business. I don't trust their doctors or nothing.'

"Sheffield also testified to the grand jury that Bonds arranged for Anderson to give him 'the clear,' 'the cream,' and another steroid from Mexico, but also said he did not know they were steroids.

"Bonds said he never paid Anderson for drugs or supplements but did give the trainer $15,000 in cash in 2003 for weight training and a $20,000 bonus after his 73-homer season.

"Bonds said that Anderson had so little money that he 'lives in his car half the time.' Asked by a juror why he didn't buy 'a mansion' for his trainer, Bonds answered: 'One, I'm black, and I'm keeping my money. And there's not too many rich black people in this world. There's more wealthy Asian people and Caucasian and white. And I ain't giving my money up.'"

And he wonders why no one likes him? I cant stand him.

I don't see how this was a "Surprise" for anyone either. A 40 year old man physically CANNOT put on 35lbs of muscle in the offseason without HGH, Steroids, or ProHormones.

Not only that, but when a batter goes from 38-40 Hr a year to 70, in addition to the added muscle mass, red flags should have gone off there as well.

As far as Giambi goes, it was pretty obvious as well when it was leaked that he had a pituitary tumor last year. Pituitary tumor = steroid usage 99% of the time.

Wow... what an enlightened attitude... Tell me again why sports, with baseball and basketball in general are losing fans and interest?

Jackie Robinson broke the race barrier for idiots like Bonds to act like this.

What a fucking tool.
