Artest-ing the Borders of Sanity
-Scott Coombs (11-12-2004)

One off-season, while still playing for the Chicago Bulls, Ron Artest applied for a job at Circuit City. On the job application he wrote down "NBA player" as his last job and used Bulls president Jerry Krause's name as a reference. And he did it all just so he could get the employee discount on home electronics.

Go back and read that paragraph again. An NBA player, earning a seven-digit salary, applied for a job at Circuit City so he could get 10%-15% off of his electronics purchases. He didn't offer to sign a few autographs for customers if they'd give him a deal. He didn't try and use his status as a basketball player to get free stuff. He applied for a summer job. That's the type of guy we're dealing with here. So before you start piling on Mr. Artest for his latest antics, remember that we are dealing with a different cat here, and the normal rules don't apply

The story would end better if he was fired from Circuit City for beating up a customer.

you must also know, when artest played for the bulls, he was making the league minimum, he probably barely got like 2-3 million over 3 years (before taxes), he was only drafted 16th overall, and if you watched any of the documentarys on him, he gave away almost all his money to family and friends helping them out those rookie years (bought his parents a big ass house too), the man was near broke before he became an all star. so don't be too hard on him for wanting a CC discount, that's smart not crazy.

I can see him being a motivational speaker for self-defense.

BOO FUCKIN' HOO for that jitterbug. *Work eithcs? Maybe, but I'm sick of these high paid athletes making amounts of money most of us will never see in our lifetime at any given time {save winning a lottery} acting like they're poor and shit, or complaining that they don't get enough money. It's ALMOST as ridiculous as the actors out there who think they're worth 20 Million + bucks to do a movie! Or how the cast of friends felt they needed more than a mill an episode to be happy. All these fuckers need to have a coke and a smile and STFU. Do I feel sorry for him, fuck no. Should he have gone psycho like norman bates and head into the stands and punch ppl out... NOPE! ---It was entertaining though.

Fuck Artest and the many people of his overpaid ilk.

im all for seriously cutting the pay of actors, athletes and musicians. but the thing is if they arent getting paid then who is? whitey up in the box or some corner office? fuck that! it would have to be a huge chain reaction that could only benefit the consumer in the end. im talking $2 tickets, $2 cd and $2 dvd.

...to his dog, apparently. Didn't one of his kids get attacked by his own dog? I heard he refused to put it down.

2-3 million in 3 years?

Most americans won't make 1/3 of that in 50 years of working.

Boo fucking hoo.. I hope he gets locked up and get his ass torn up a la Tobias Beecher.

He's a fucking unhinged thug who deserves to be chained up in a cage and taken to high schoolers as an example of what you SHOULDN'T emulate.

Adebisi was the guy with the hat.

Schillinger did it to Beecher in the first season.

well then who did adebeisi rape? i remember in one episode there was a white guy who had been raped by adebeisi in the kitchen and shchillinger and his boys raped him a second time. i know beecher had a boyfriend there for a while who protected him from schillinger. i just can't remember the guy that got raped by adebeisi and then again by schillinger.

A few people...

He did the one Mob underling whose name escapes me (Vincent.. something). He may have done Kenny Wangler as it was implied several times. He did a few other tertiary characters.

Beecher was raped by Schillinger and then Beecher went nuts and beat him up and shit on his face. He then set up Keller with him to kill him... and he broke all of his limbs but then turned on Schillinger and had an affair with beecher.. and was accidentally killed by beecher after he set Beecher up in the play with the real shiv during Macbeth, so when he stabbed Schillinger.. he'd eliminate him.

Keller then killed the aryans off with some chemical agent mailed to the mail room which they opened in the mail room and that was the end of the series.

Whew! I can't believe I remember all of that.

Cry me a fucking river.

I think 670,000/year is still enough to buy a decent stereo system.

You know those ads where they want you to apply to an art school, and then they give you some dippy test? That's what I thought this thread was about when I clicked on it. An art-test. Oh well.

Anyway, if the guy makes that kind of jing, He should have appilied to Ultimate Electronics. That's where they sell the top tier shit (I think).

Especially from Circuit City, its not the kind of shop where you find a $50K Faroudja display.

That's so stupid anyway, it's like me applying for a job at EB to get discount on games :loco: (I guess compared to my salary, buying a game is like for him to buy a complete high-end plasma TV with Home theater).
