Can someone help me out, I want to purchase a PS2, but I don't know which model to go for? I have a choice between the older models and the new pstwo that just came out, which one should I get?

I'd just get a PStwo personally. I think they look cooler.

The main reson for me getting a Pstwo was for later when I decide to buy imports. It's a hella lot easier, considering its "flip-top" design. All you need is a swap disc, and your set. It's also possible to play "special" games, meaning the ones that magically come out of your dvd burner ;) Plus the designs alot nicer.

I think that the PStwo would be good to use in your car as an MP3/DVD/game player.

playStations can play MP3's right?

The PSTwo is really better in every way, but if you plan on playing FFXI, then get a PS2.

I don't think it's that simple, unless some kind of boot disc has come out that I'm not aware of. If so, I'm buying one and a new PStwo.

It is that simple, actually--modchip.com had some kits for the older versions of PS2's (only around 30 bucks, too!).

I'm sure that a PStwo version of the discs will be released sometime.

You have to "fool" the sensors into thinking that the lid is always closed, and then you can use the same swap discs you used with the old PS2. And by fool the sensors, I mean tape them down.

Sony got wise to this, so only the first run of PStwos will allow this.

Search the old PStwo threads to find more info on it.

I dun think so, unforuntately.
http://www.modchip.com/ps2/swapmagic.htm
That's the thing I'm talking about. The page says it works for all PS2's up to V11.

http://www.modchipshop.com/ps2/ps2id.htm
This page lists the PStwo as V12.

No biggie--like I said, no doubt a new version will be released soon.

PS: What the hell is a slide card?

EDIT:

What the hell is he doing? Slide card pulls out your disk tray or something?

EDIT2: Shit, nm, now I see what you mean by top-loader not needing a slide card.

Yea Exactly my point,With the original, you need the stick card (slide card) to stick to the tray and pull it out, which can actually damage the gears/motor in your disc tray. With the PSTwo,its flip top so it = easy :glee:
