I need a good p2p for music. I had ares for a while but suddenly it doesn't work anymore and kazaa lite is chock full of red herring files. I don't want bit torrent, but is there anything good other than these?

And now I can third it. Just a few minutes of setup and I'm back in the game!

Thanks a bunch :D

You guys should really ditch p2p if you want whole cds, or even if you want proper files. IRC is where it's at. CD's months in advance.

Although you could stick your hand in a honey pot. :glee:

I've been using Shareaza lately and its really been a breeze. I don't think I've yet to not find something I was looking for.

Bittorrent and emule is all I need. However I hardly ever download music, though.

if you're on a mac:

Limewire - anonymous downloading
Solarseek - this is the newer easier to install Soulseek p2p for the mac
bittorent - mainly use this for easytree.org (site for concert files in ogg or flac formats....broadband)

BitTorrent is the best for whole albums, especially newer releases.

LimeWire is pretty good for the occasional song or video file. Soulseek is decent, as well.

I heard people, particularly those that like to download those Super Duper Play videos bash Bit Torrent.

What's up with this I have to register? Do I have to pay?

easytree is free. you have to register mainly so they can keep track of how much you're "sharing" versus how much your downloading. they even have a top ten list that shows which user shares the least :D

Man I don't share shit....

In College when I had a Ratio FTP (10/1) server, life was grand. I'd just start it up and people would upload all sorts of shit. 90% of it was mostly SHIT. But I didn't have to do anything but delete the shit I didn't want to keep. I got into all sorts of shit that way. I would have never listened to Creamatory or Dark Tranquility if someone didn't upload two albums so they could download my entire In Flames Catalog.

My biggest problem with modern P2P is that I can't think of anything to download.
