it's downed by stupid shows such as the real world, road rules, room raiders, newly weds, and other stupid reality shows.

mtv was suppose to be about the music and its videos. once jackasses ended, that was the last straw. hell even BET has gone to crap as of late too.

TV overall sucks. I only watch like 1-3 shows (2 of them are syndications) and maybe some of the movie channels.

Yar - MTV has sucked pretty hard since the mid-90's. That taxi-cab driver Jimmy was pretty fucking hilarious though - he pwned Stairway to Heaven.

Tv sucks in general for the most part. All I watch are seinfeld and the simpsons anymore and I am growing tired of them. I have 400 comcast channels and on damand and everything seems to blow. We just got WGN here today- I can watch Magnum PI on TV again (one of my all time fav shows)

but only when I take off from work or tape it

For music videos, I watch my collection of music video compilation DVDs.

MTV has been shit for as long as I can remember. I haven't watched a show on MTV in years, probably since liquid television back in the day. And does anyone else notice the tendency to comment on the shows you miss? So far there's only been a comment or 2 about there being no videos. It's MTV, MUSIC TV. Where's the music? Oh, I forgot, they play sound clips during their reality shows for BGM. :rolleyes:

I used to watch Headbanger's Ball. Actually, I'd record it and fast forward through the shit I didn't like, say, Ricky Rackman (sp?) talking and crappy hair bands. Mostly I'd fast forward to the Triple Thrash Threat and hope they'd show Napalm Death, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse or something else Death Metal.

The only thing that still has (or had) shows on it music related is VH1. But ever since they got rid of Rock Show (and all its incarnations, including the one hosted by Sebastian Bach) there's really no reason to watch VH1.

MTV also tried having a redeeming quality by having a show hosted by Moby featuring odd videos--that was a great show.

EDIT: What the fuck ever happened to MTVX -- the rock station? Now, THAT was something.

Oh, and so was The Box -- before they merged with MTV2.

Why is it that there is no MTV channel here in Canada? I always hear about it, musicians always mention it in a bad light in their songs, and I don't even get to see it! :mad:

DirecTV subscribers get Much Music as well.

VH1 Classic is definitely the one to watch if you want classic music videos (personally what I prefer). They show The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Van Halen, Rush, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who and other such awesome bands.

I just returned from vacation in Taiwan and I was able to watch many of Japan's TV shows, man, what a difference, I really miss the old days of educated and also entertaining shows, I don't need to go further on what types of shows, but for MTV, what a bunch of social rejects, who can't make a living other than turturing themselves and tape them (Jackass).

This used to be true of mtv2 when it first started. Sadly as of late I find it no better than mtv.

Most of the time I actually turn on that channel, Beavis and Butthead is on. Which is better than music videos.
