Checking printer ink levels?

I have an HP Deskjet 3600 series printer. When I first started using it, it would show a message with the levels of colored and black ink whenever I printed something. However, it seemed to have just stopped doing this at some point, and thus I wind up having no idea how much ink I have until I get a message saying I need to buy a new cartridge.

Does anyone know how I could either set it to notify me of the levels whenever I print something or at least a way that I can manually check it? I've had no luck trying to figure this out on my own.

Thanks.

Don't bother. It's not going to give you an accurate measurement of how much ink is left. Just trying to get people to buy more ink cartridges before they really have to. Only way of knowing if you're low on ink is to look at what gets printed.

I'll second that!
