Half Life Platinum Edition - problem?

i decided to pick up this pack the other day at Best Buy when they had it on sale for $9.99. [great deal!]

anyway, i got everything to install fine under Win 2000, however.. under WinXP i get a msg like "16 bit Windows Subsystem - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." and it won't install.

anyone know how to fix this? and no, creating a shortcut to the setup.exe and changing compatibility mode to a previous win OS doesn't work.

You can trying right clicking on the hl.exe, click compatibility tab and select win95. Otherwise to update the game to run in win2k/xp you need to install that Steam program Vavle has now. Steam sucks big time too.
